Blog Post #7 - Self-Review: The Oral Presentation. November 8th, 2009. Used my cue cards a little too often. Bad Start / Introduction. Jittery start which should not have happened given the rehearsals. As a result – Not captivating enough. Poor Eye contact which usually is not the case. Inconsistent speech pacing – Too fast at the start but slowed down to a rather acceptable pace in the middle, though my teammates said it was too slow and as a result they had to quicken their speech pace. On an individua...

With every end, comes a new beginning. - Final Blog Post #8. November 10th, 2009. Thirteen weeks ago, all fourteen of us came into class, not knowing what to expect, nor what was expected of us. All we knew of ES2007S was that it was a module through which we would learn a fair bit of communication skills and techniques. Ldquo; We Learn . . . 10% of what we read. 20% of what we hear. 30% of what we see. 50% of what we see and hear. 70% of what we discuss. 80% of what we experience. To the two ladies, you ...

ES2007S Professional Communications: Why effective communication skills are important for me?
http://yankit180809.blogspot.com/2009/08/why-effective-communication-skills-are.html
Sunday, August 23, 2009. Why effective communication skills are important for me? I attended my first interview for scholarship before admitted to NUS. The experience was unpleasant. My mind was blank, my palms were sweaty, I felt butterflies in my stomach, and I was stammering all the time. I could not even answer a simple question to introduce myself properly. Although I had some leadership experiences, I am still lack of the confidence to speak. Jason Mak Yan Kit. August 23, 2009 at 10:47 PM. There is...

The photos certainly portrayed how much it was an “eye-opener” for you, with the various activities or systems (toilets by the river etc.) that are not seen in Singapore. The 2008 Formula 1 Singapore Disaster (Blog Post #6 - Open Topic). October 17th, 2009. Errors in communication, or the lack of it, can be disastrous. It can result in conflicts, misunderstandings, accidents; the list goes on. One infamous incident that some Singaporeans can vaguely recall, happened sometime last year during one of the most hyped-up events on the sporting calendar – the inaugural 2008 Singtel Formula One Grand Prix. What caused Felipe Massa pit error at Singapore GP?

Saturday, October 10, 2009. It was another monthly committee meeting in a seminar room. That day was less than two weeks after the Chinese New Year. Jim the President decided to have a small celebration and had asked someone to buy yee-sang and prepare paper plates and chopsticks the previous day. The meeting ended and the committee was distributing the chopsticks and plates. Below are some of my thoughts on this incident:. 3 The choice of words we used in conversation can have some impact to the listene...
