32 weeks into our second pregnancy, we were told there was a very serious problem with our baby boy’s heart. He would be born with a rare, congenital heart defect,. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. HLHS), in which the left ventricle is severely underdeveloped and unable to function outside of the womb. Essentially, this meant he would be born with half a heart. Saturday, May 12, 2012. Kellen spent the first few days of May in the CCU. Nothing serious, just his little body having trouble fighting off 2 viruses. One was respiratory, which caused him to desat, and the other was GI related and dehydrated him. I think he just felt overdue for a date with his Cardiac Nurse 'girlfriends' since he hasn't seen them since December :). By the 4th day, he was starting to feel MUCH better. Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Just like a ROCKSTAR! Big Sis Kaylin turned 3 in March! One of her absolute favorite shows is Fresh Beat Band on Nick Jr. Mainly b/c she loves to sing and dance! We surprised Kaylin with the tickets and homemade concert attire at her bday party. Being that she's 3, she didn't quite process it all right away. We married on August 21st, 2004 in Limerick, PA, in the middle of an unexpected torrential downpour.more like a monsoon. Certainly made for some great memories :) Hard to believe that was almost 10 years ago! Six years later, on March 9, 2010, our daughter Kaylin was born.
