Padgett Place: Recap of Dec 09
http://jckcpadgett.blogspot.com/2009/12/recap-of-dec-09.html
Friday, January 1, 2010. Recap of Dec 09. Justin turned the big 2-5 and the Counsells and Brett and Janna helped us celebrate a little bit. He received an Alabama cornhole game and a Funfetti cake (his choice) that said "RTR" in blue icing. Wonder what he's laughing about. Classic hold-the-camera-out-and-take-it-yourself-picture in front of the top hat-clad tree. I was like a little kid this year- counting down the days! I will make an effort not to get too old for Christmas ever again. Sidenote: the...

Sunday, January 2, 2011. I've also had Justin home for almost 3 whole weeks- no commuting, studying, or stressing! Justin completed a successful first semester at Auburn and is on his way to becoming Ruby's personal veterinarian. (We keep telling her what a lucky dog she is! You are so wise. I miss you! I stole part of what you said and put it on my blog (in quotation marks) because it was so good. xoxo. January 2, 2011 at 8:27 PM. You know one thing I love about your posts? Wednesday, May 12, 2010. May 11th - Home Sweet Home. We arrived home tired but safely. Please come back in a few days and I'll fill in the days I was not able to post and add some new pictures! Saturday, May 8, 2010. May 8th - Exploring the Hills and Valleys and Jerusalem. Here are a few shots from the days. I'll add more details when I return. The garden of Gethsemane. Visitors come to kiss the rock where many believe Christ came to pray the night before his arrest. The grandson of Mr. Kando, an ant...

Touring Tuscany →. July 11, 2012 · 3:28 pm. There is something special about sleeping with the windows open. If the climate is just right you wake up early and still feel rested. We have no air conditioning in our room but it has not been a problem at all. The sea breeze keeps us cool and the sun keeps the humidity out. As we waited for our boat, we relaxed on the rocks and watched the waves crash while families swam in the protected harbor. Vernazza is the most beautiful of the towns we visited but ...

Monthly Archives: July 2012. July 17, 2012 · 8:48 pm. Our flight from Rome boarded thirty minutes late (Italian time is slower than everywhere else in Europe) and then we sat on the runway for another forty minutes. The longer we waited the more nervous I got because we only had 2.5 hours between flights. After two hours in the air the pilot finally came on the intercom and told us we would need to circle Heathrow airport for thirty minutes before we landed. When we finally got through we had 15 minutes ...

Religious Rome →. July 12, 2012 · 5:45 pm. We were reluctant to leave the tiny town of Manarola this morning. It is so beautiful and calm that it made us both wonder why anyone would ever want to leave. When I booked the earliest train out of town the cashier said “You don't want to leave early. You want stay in Manarola and relax, no? 8221; I wish I had taken her advice because today was a long day of travel and sightseeing. I was difficult forums to leave such a lovely city so soon. Even harder for...

La Dolce Vita →. July 10, 2012 · 6:05 pm. There is nothing quite like breakfast served in your room. It wasn't fancy. Just apple crossants and cappuccino but the fact that it was brought tous mad us feel extremely pampered. After sleeping on the train we both needed a solid nights rest ad we got all we needed in Venice. The light breakfast was just what we needed to jump start our day and keep us going on our trip to Manarola. We are staying in a bed and breakfast that is run by Erlado, a former police o...

Round Trip →. July 15, 2012 · 5:50 pm. This morning we met with the church in southern Rome. It was really neat to think that we were part of a lineage of Christians meeting in Rome for the last 2000 years and that the tradition will hopefully go on long after we have passed away. The local preacher, Stefano Corazza was waiting outside the door because we emailed him before we left Texas. I struggled to understand the sermon but from what I could tell Stefano was preaching about the grace of God. For...

The Long Goodbye →. July 14, 2012 · 5:36 pm. We started the morning a bit later than I originally planned but at this point in our trip we hardly refer to the schedule at all. It feels easier to look at what is around us and wing it. Most or modern Rome is similarly situated. The city has been here so long that it is built on layer after layer of civilization. This layering is the reason most of the ruins we saw were so far below the modern street level. I am so glad we bought the Roma Pass! We were even...
