So today my mom was teaching the Relief Society (the women's organization in the church) lesson, and Patti Lloyd called in from Atqasuk! She isn't online with us very often, but she called in today to hear Mom's lesson and it seriously brought so much joy to my heart! When Patti was in town a few months ago she saw a bunch of cars at the church and stopped by to say hello to old friends, and I was so thrilled to see her!

Chase got a personalized tour of the firetruck, complete with pushing the buttons to turn on the siren and flash the lights and everything! He also got to check out the ambulance and the fire hall. Life in the Slow Lane. Wednesday, July 14, 2010. I think so. Well, Wayne and his dad are, at least! They are busy cycling their way through Arizona this week, and it's averaging 108 degrees. They have been leaving at 4am to try and beat the heat a bit, but it's still 90 degrees when they leave in the morning. I am so glad they are almost done! I found this picture in my son’s backpack yesterday. He’s in Montana this week, so I’m obviously missing him terribly, but there was something especially emotional about this drawing that I couldn’t attribute to maternal longing. There’s usually some accompanying verbiage that goes along with any artwork that comes home, like a sliver of paper with we all drew pictures of ourselves if we were trees! I spent most of my evening thinking about that lone figure and the words weighing upon him: be quiet.
