So I'm going to "away" from the blog for a while, but I leave with a few tidibts:. I have finally reached the point where I have an Alabama Chanin jersey dress option for nearly every day of the "work" week. By the end of the summer, I hope to have a dress for every day of the entire week! After the Vacation B...

A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it." -George Moore. Friday, October 3, 2014. Preliminary Notes: The Why, What and Who. This site is born out of the notion that there is a place in modern life for domesticity. I believe that both men and women can and should enjoy a rich domestic life and that children benefit from the cultivation of domesticity. What's the point of all this domesticity? This is as true for a retiree as it is for a child. We live in a very ...

A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it." -George Moore. Thursday, August 25, 2016. Rascal, by Sterling North. A couple of nights ago we finished reading Rascal. I found his dry erase marker rendering of a raccoon family today. And he's already started reading it again to himself. Read this book while the leaves fall and the soup is cooking on the stove- it's perfect for autumn! Monday, August 22, 2016. Once school begins for us, things will quiet down a bit.

Numbering the Days: If Fishes Were Wishes....the World Would Be an Ocean.

Saturday, June 27, 2015. If Fishes Were Wishes.the World Would Be an Ocean. We pilfered from Papa's bank, grabbing handfuls of pennies, and headed to the nearest fountain. Conversations were had on penny throwing etiquette. Close your eyes, make a wish, never say it out loud, then throw high and hard. Unfortunately, this particular fountain was designed more for safety than penny pitching. The net worth of those shrubs went up considerably. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Kitchen | Plans, in Progress
http://www.tphblog.com/the-kitchen-plans-in-progress
Obsessed with offbeat beauty. The Kitchen Plans, in Progress. The words “in progress” are key for this post. I won’t rattle on a disclaimer, but this is the kitchen raw and ready for the details. The sparse kitchen actually is pretty soulless at this point. But, I’m working on it; and–while feeling vulnerable–I’d love to share where we’re headed. I haven’t touched these shelves since we unpacked over a year ago. I do know the bunny stays. He holds our tea. I’m not so thrilled with the backsplash...

Numbering the Days: Angry with Elizabeth Zimmerman
http://numberourdaysaright.blogspot.com/2015/08/angry-with-elizabeth-zimmerman.html
Saturday, August 8, 2015. Angry with Elizabeth Zimmerman. It's been awhile since I've been here; rather than 'lazy, hazy days of summer', July flew by, a hot blur of family, friends, ice cream and grilling. Fun, albeit tiring, niceness. Which brings me to being angry. When I first learned to knit, which I did NOT want to do, it made me so angry Cub Sweetheart kept asking me, 'why do you do that? It makes you SO angry? In my defense that was after I'd started and ripped out the same sweater SEVENTEEN times.

Numbering the Days: Family Gatherings
http://numberourdaysaright.blogspot.com/2015/07/family-gatherings.html
Thursday, July 2, 2015. We're not the kind of family that draws together very often. Mostly for funerals, sad to say. Once in awhile for a wedding, or a big birthday, but mostly for funerals. But Daddy is turning 90 this year, and that's a big deal in anybody's book. So we're coming in from all corners, to make a honkin' big deal of this one, for him. Here are a handful of photos from his life's journey book:. This man - Jessie Calvin Boaz,. And this woman, Frances Levador Seago,. Daddy worked a lot of j...

Numbering the Days: Not so Sassy....
http://numberourdaysaright.blogspot.com/2011/07/not-so-sassy.html
Sunday, July 10, 2011. This is me, age six years old. I've changed, I am changing. Aren't we all? Whether we know it or not? On a recent road trip with my mother we meandered in a misty rain, through several old cemeteries, peering at headstones. We were in search of long gone relatives with names like Penelope. Believe it or not, one headstone actually said something about how clean her house was! I've also decided I don't like sweet tea. Not sure if they'll let me stay in Texas if that gets out! Some w...

http://numberourdaysaright.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-have-problem.html
Tuesday, July 14, 2015. I have a problem'. Daddy in his garden patch. My cell phone rings, and it's Daddy. Daddy who rarely calls my cell phone, but he remembers I'm in Idaho, not Texas. We don't have a land line in Idaho, not that he would call it that. He'd call it a telephone. He starts by telling me a cousin I haven't seen in 50 years died yesterday, Pedro who was about the age of my older brother, Gary. Pedro who was a lot like Gary, and died of the same thing Gary did this past February. And thank ...

Numbering the Days: Hallie Grace....
http://numberourdaysaright.blogspot.com/2014/02/hallie-grace.html
Sunday, February 9, 2014. I wanted to pop in to show you why I flew to Idaho two weeks ago. This is a family answer to prayer. A miracle of sorts. A reminder that when the preacher tells us to repeat after him, "God is good all the time, all the time God is good" he's right. When that little boy called me, I thought we were going to talk about his guinea pig again. He said, "Grammy, I'm going to be a big brother." "What? I'm going to be a big brother.". When we first learned about Hallie Grace she was th...

The Joyful Homemaker
February 27, 2015. During my first days of diapering, I used cloth wipes soaked in a homemade solution. I would mix a batch of solution, and pour over wipes in a plastic wipe container. This worked well, but after a few months, I knew I needed something easier. NOBODY has time for that with ten other littles running around. Easy to use spray bottle (I use a plastic bottle I recycled from the first diaper spray I bought). Baby gentle Castille soap (I use Dr. Bronner’s). Bingo You’re done. Post 34 of 365 R...

The Joyful Homeschooler
Saturday, March 7, 2015. 1 Stay home as much as you can during schooling hours. Especially if you are a new homeschooling family. It is easy to get off task and being out running errands, visiting friends or finding things to easily distract you away from home, steals from your schooling hours and causes frustration to all. 3 Make playdates or field trip dates in advance. This makes them more enjoyable and they are planned into your schedule. 7 Laugh and have fun together. These are the best memories...

The Joyful Housewife
The Joy of the Lord is my strength. Friday, March 27, 2009. Closing the blog.for now. I have been MIA for too long! BTW, I had little Henry on December 5th at 8:20 in the morning. It was an amazing homebirth. He weighed 9lb 4oz. He was 23 inches long. Yes, you read that right, it's not a typo. Here's a couple of pics. Here's Henry about 3 hours after birth. He had a ton of black hair. But, he's head has gotten bigger, but he hasn't gotten anymore hair. So, he looks mostly bald. Friday, March 27, 2009.
