Posted by Dana L Penner. The Brood We All Belong To. I recently had a chance to meet a baby who was less than 24 hours old. A tiny human perfectly formed and woven together. A creation of love. A reminder that we all belong to the brood of a Creator, Designer and Parent who is absolutely perfect far beyond comprehension. Posted by Dana L Penner. After a somewhat extended hiatus from the blogosphere I have decided to pick up the proverbial pen again and write on. Current Location: Langley, BC. Well that's...

Two weeks in the same place? Simons Town, South Africa. I woke up this bright sunny Monday morning to realize that this is the first time since September (with the exclusion of my 3 weeks spent at home over Christmas) that I have been in the same bed, same room, same place, same city for more than a week. Wow! Well that's what's up with me these days. I'm going back to the same room right now to enjoy the feeling of familarity that one gets from the second week in the same place. The Way I See Things. There is nothing quite as exciting as receiving a parcel in the mail that you ordered a month ago and have given up waiting for. Perhaps tomorrow I'll don my apron and see what Laura Calder inspires by way of her lovely cookbook "French Taste: Elegant Everyday Eating". Posted by Dana L Penner. http://danahonderich.blogspot.com/2011/12/advent-iv-may-it-be.html
Advent IV: May It Be. Tonight there is no festive fire dancing on the television screen to keep me warm. Tonight there are no pop renditions of age-old carols to keep me company. Tonight it is not about the shopping lists and the count-down to Christmas. Tonight it is not about egg not and mistletoe. Tonight it is not about Rudolf and Frosty. Tonight not all is silent. Tonight not all is calm. Tonight is the story, re-read again;. Of a fear-inducing visit between a young girl and a divine being. When I a...

http://danahonderich.blogspot.com/2011/12/advent-ii-on-being-incarnate.html
Advent II: On Being Incarnate. This Advent more than others I find myself highly attuned to the embodiment of God, the notion of the incarnation. Perhaps it has something to do with feeling weary, run-down and sick for most of Advent thus far that has me realizing again the limitations of my humanness and my own embodiment. Another poignant reminder of the limitation of embodiment came to me in reading The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Posted by Dana L Penner. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Meghan ...

The tragedy of it all. Stellenbosch, South Africa. Today has been a great day of my life. I got up early feeling more rested than I have in a long time, and went for a run in front of a backdrop of vineyards and mountains. We are staying in Stellenbosch, which is University town known also for its vineyards. It's hard to not see the beauty of this place. Posted by Dana L Penner. Blank Canvas: Advent III: The Empty Stable
http://danahonderich.blogspot.com/2011/12/advent-iii-empty-stable.html
Advent III: The Empty Stable. It's Christmas time, and I have decked the halls, and trimmed the tree, and it's starting to snow,. But I feel a sense of emptiness. I can understand what the stable. Nearby a packed inn was a lonely stable. It was there, and that was all it was. It was there like it always was. And then they came. A young girl, a middle aged man, and their donkey-chariot. They came to rest in that empty stable. And into the world came a baby, a tiny baby. Born in an empty stable. Sensei Ken...
