Other (Non GOA) Events. May 22, 2016. On Saturday October 11th at 2 p.m, about thirty members and friends gathered in. All Saints’ Church, Cheltenham for the GOA Chairman’s afternoon. Ken Stephens gave a fascinating talk on the organ music of William Lloyd Webber. The talk ended with a surprise item, a Christmas Pastorale by Bertram Louard Selby, played by Mike Eddy. During and following the delicious tea, some members helped themselves to the organ which was on very good form for the afternoon.

Roy particularly enjoyed his Caerphilly ice cream. After lunch all those who wished to play enjoyed their sessions on the organ. Thanks go to the Dean and Chapter for allowing our visit, Richard Moorhouse, the Organist for help us arrange it, David Thomas, Guy Russell and Roy Massey. When Organ Scholar at both Gloucester Cathedral and King’s College, Cambridge, one of my duties was to teach the trebles (boy singers aged roughly 8-13) music theory and coach them on the repertoire and the special techniques needed for ecclesiastical singing in the Anglican tradition. At Gloucester, the trebles were pupils at The King's School. And at Cambridge they were pupils at King's College School. I have also successfully coached pupils through Royal College of Organists diplomas.

Other (Non GOA) Events. May 22, 2016. Sixteen members attended the GOA Annual Dinner at The Rising Sun Hotel, Bishop’s Cleeve. There was a full choice of starters, main courses, puddings and drinks and we were all served together in good time on our long table with stunning views over towards the Malvern Hills.
