Saturday, September 18, 2010. The day started out cool, but warming quickly we succumbed to using the car AC. The drive along the river road was calming, peaceful, quiet with the windows rolled up and no radio playing. It was nice. the kitchen gnomes: April 2007

http://thekitchengnomes.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 17, 2007. For I have received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.". In the same way also he took the cup, after supper saying. "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.". I love that we celebrate Communion every Sunday at my church.

the kitchen gnomes: July 2007

http://thekitchengnomes.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 19, 2007. We all hung out at the park in Paso. Were made and consumed by all who were there. It was a wonderful way to end that glorious day. This trip was a gift from the Lord and thanks to all the cameras, digital cameras, and video cameras that were there, plus computers, we can relive those precious times and share them with those who weren't fortunate to be there. the kitchen gnomes: Back to the basics.

http://thekitchengnomes.blogspot.com/2008/08/back-to-basics.html

Sunday, August 24, 2008. Back to the basics. However, it feels like we're missing something because we’ve just been limping along for some time now, certainly not living very victorious lives (as far as we can tell) and this is really hard to understand. Currently we are feeling totally helpless and I'm beginning to think that maybe realizing we are helpless IS the point; that helplessness isn’t a negative thing, but a freeing thing. It’s ALL up to Him and that is where we must go to find rest. John 15:1...

the kitchen gnomes: June 2008

http://thekitchengnomes.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 06, 2008. I've been chiding my son for not posting in his blog. Encouraging him to just journal this way so we know how to pray for him more specifically as he is in Kathmandu, Nepal), and thought best to take my own advice and just jot down a few thoughts of my own. I'm going to try and do this on a more regular basis. This challenge will be good for me.I think. She just posted her journal. However, instead of traveling to a foreign country, my adventure is limited to being home and working...

Ah, summer- what power you have to make us suffer and like it.". Some of you have expressed a little curiosity and even a little concern about the news reports on the flooding along the Mississippi River that has made it to St. Louis. Rest assured- the water is no where near my house or street and most likely won't affect my day-to-day existence in any majorly inconvenient ways. The last one shows the plaque marking the level of the river in 1993. just for a little perspective. On my to-do list.

http://peachyhokie.blogspot.com/2008/06/summer-program-08_8402.html

Ah, summer- what power you have to make us suffer and like it.". There will be several opportunities this summer for children involved in clubs to attend reward field trips. They earn points through attendance, good behavior, and Bible verse memorization. It is really fun to see the kids beam with pride when we announce they have earned a special trip and know that they will enjoy the activity even more because they had to work so hard to be there. Ah, summer- what power you have to make us suffer and like it.". The past two nights have been quieter and, as far as I know, the arson fires in our neighborhood seem to have stopped. Perhaps the stormy weather that moved into the area has had a little to do with that. Praise God for rain! Thanks for your prayers. CityScape: July 2008 Update

http://peachyhokie.blogspot.com/2008/07/july-2008-update.html

Ah, summer- what power you have to make us suffer and like it.". Dear Family and Friends,. One Tuesday afternoon after finishing up Bible club in my back yard, I was loading our material box into the car. Suddenly I saw Demetrius, who had just left the back yard, running toward me from his house. 8220;I forgot to give you your hug! 8221; He exclaimed excitedly as he ran toward me with open arms. Finally, one day as I was walking by, a woman stopped me to introduce herself as Demetrius’ mom. Dia...Subscri...

Ah, summer- what power you have to make us suffer and like it.". Dear Friends and Family,. Once a month we hold “Fourth Friday Family Fun Night” for children involved in Bible Club. These evenings are designed for the youth to invite any of their relatives so we might encourage families to spend time together and so we can get to know parents better. That evening was simply another reminder that sometimes my vision is so narrow that I easily miss what God is doing while I watch for what I expect to happe...

CityScape: A summer preview

http://peachyhokie.blogspot.com/2008/05/summer-preview.html

Ah, summer- what power you have to make us suffer and like it.". At the first sign of warmer weather we decided to move our weekday Bible Clubs outside! Each of our staff homes has a great backyard and lots of kids living nearby so, instead of waiting for summer, we began Back Yard Bible Club a month early this year. Attendance the first week was great! Many of the youth attending were involved in activities last summer and are looking forward to our full summer program which will begin next month. Life ...

CityScape: Summer Program '08

http://peachyhokie.blogspot.com/2008/06/summer-program-08.html

Ah, summer- what power you have to make us suffer and like it.". This afternoon Andrew and I took Adam and Kameka fishing at a local park. Kameka had never been fishing before. which might explain why she wanted to stick the whole pole into the water in her first attempts to attract fish. We explained the proper technique and before too long she was proudly holding the line to a freshly-snagged aquatic creature. What a great time! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). On my to-do list. Bored in the Kitchen | Just another cooking blog

Bored in the Kitchen. Just another cooking blog. The “List”. Thanks to the Internet, I found this recipe. That doesn’t call for buttermilk. I just tweaked it a bit by adding 3 teaspoons of baking powder which made the pancakes fluffy. I also skipped the chocolate chips and the powdered sugar. I made the pancakes and Jon made the chocolate syrup. The cream, unfortunately, didn’t want to get whipped so it’s just cream. Put a dollop of cream, as much or as little as you like.
