Regular Non Sequiturs: September 2008
http://r-non-s.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2008. A (very) small plague of grasshoppers. Monday, September 29, 2008. Boot Camp - Final Day. Yesterday was the last day of triathlon boot camp. It was a choose-your-own-adventure bike ride. We had options for 28, 40, 56, 80, and 95 mile loops. You may assume that I'm crazy enough to do one of the long rides. You would be.wrong. I managed the 40 and even opted out of a "big climb" option. What this means is that boot camp successfully kicked my butt. Saturday, September 27, 2008.

Regular Non Sequiturs: OneHundredandSixtyFive.
http://r-non-s.blogspot.com/2010/10/onehundredandsixtyfive.html
Thursday, October 14, 2010. I'm in a bit of denial. It seems that regardless of what I do, time goes forward. I think I'm going to take some time out of my research to figure out how to stop time so I can get more stuff finished. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Regular Non Sequiturs: October 2010
http://r-non-s.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 31, 2010. I'm down to 148 days. So, I lost half of October trying to get the IP that I'm going to be working with. This was theoretically supposed to be quicker than designing my own device, but right now, I'm a little dubious about that fact. So, it looks like there are going to be many, many long days and nights. Thursday, October 14, 2010. Friday, October 1, 2010. Image from The Autism News. Case, though, whichever random person we "asked" for help was extremely helpful, going as far a...

Regular Non Sequiturs: October 2008
http://r-non-s.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 13, 2008. The first day of off-season found me very hungry and tired. Tomorrow will be better. Some of you will argue that yesterday was the first day of off season, but considering I was awake for a total of 8 hours yesterday, it doesn't count. Sunday, October 12, 2008. Bring on the off-season! Okay, on to the race. I am so ready for the off-season! Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Granny Annie smiles knowingly. I was going to do mile repeats tonight, but with all the excitement over at Belmont...

Regular Non Sequiturs: Help
http://r-non-s.blogspot.com/2010/10/help.html
Friday, October 1, 2010. Image from The Autism News. In Japan and Germany this last year, I was at the mercy of strangers several times. The Japanese, in particular were very helpful. There is an odd feeling to suddenly being non-verbal and illiterate, relying only on gestures. In every. We (Americans as a whole) have this horrible habit of avoiding answering the call to help. We pass by the homeless, we avoid eye contact to avoid any obligation. Why should we expect any different treatment?

Regular Non Sequiturs: Clown Car
http://r-non-s.blogspot.com/2010/09/clown-car.html
Saturday, September 25, 2010. I spent today cramming myself and four others into a Dodge Neon. Three adults (one pregnant) and two children of car seat age. I got the back with my feet on the hump between said car seats. Comfy. We only did the in/out part about 6 times. By the end, we were pretty good at it. I'm on my second day with no work. I've decided to head back to reality a day early. It seems the right thing to do. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Regular Non Sequiturs: January 2009
http://r-non-s.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 20, 2009. New Year, New Season. The off season is over and it's time to start keeping track of workouts here again. Things will be a little sparse through the first week of February because I'm being a good grad student and prioritizing research. Walking down to the lake. Note the gutter filled with ice. Pre-dunk. Note nervous smiles. The chaos of the plunge and my turn-around point. The exit- really booking it now. Lookin' all relaxed and warm next to a very bundled-up coach.

Regular Non Sequiturs: February 2010
http://r-non-s.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 16, 2010. I've managed to 1) ignore this blog for months and months, 2) realize that it's time to start down that long road to graduation, and 3) come to peace with the fact that I'm not going to be able to compete* in triathlon until #2 comes to fruition. I'm hoping to get back to the blogging as part of the road to the PhD. Prepare yourselves for more non-sequiturs. By "compete" I mean race to win, not go and have fun at a race.
