The Knitaholic

The random thoughts of a born-again knitter. Wednesday, December 22, 2010. I have decided to make a fresh start for 2011. My new blog will focus exclusively on knitting, particularly my attempts to get my SABLE (Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy) under control. Will 2o11 be the year I knit more yarn than I buy? Only time will tell. Visit my new blog here. Links to this post. Monday, September 06, 2010. Au revoir - for now. As is pretty obvious, I haven't blogged for a while. Links to this post. Hanna...

The Knitaholic: October 2009

http://theknitaholic.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

The random thoughts of a born-again knitter. Wednesday, October 21, 2009. It's been quiet. Too quiet. Mainly because I've been working on a secret project that has been quite tiring. The sort of project that takes 9 months to mature. Besides, I already have my jinx project. The Debbie Bliss Alphabet Blanket. I'm only 5 rows in and already have to tink back a 187 stitch row to correct a mistake. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My free knitting patterns. My other free knitting patterns.

The Knitaholic: May 2009

http://theknitaholic.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

The random thoughts of a born-again knitter. Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Earth and fire hat. I made this hat as a way of using up some leftover NZ Shepherd Lambswool Felted 12ply brown - and an odd orange-brown worsted ball sitting in my stash. I made up the pattern as I went and am very pleased with the result. The dark brown really frames the variegated orange beautifully,. Links to this post. Swappers make plans – and God laughs. Or so I thought. So much for sending her one of my three lovely stash yarns!

The Knitaholic: She knits

http://theknitaholic.blogspot.com/2010/05/she-knits.html

The random thoughts of a born-again knitter. Monday, May 03, 2010. I have a new favourite baby girl pattern - The Elizabeth Tunic. Not only is it a quick an easy - but not boring - knit that can be adapted in a variety of ways, but the final garment is an extremely practical and wearable item. The dress becomes a tunic top as the child grows and can be knitted in a variety of yarns for either summer or winter wear. And here is Georgia modelling the seamless kimono top. The Knitaholic: April 2009

http://theknitaholic.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

The random thoughts of a born-again knitter. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Blogging remotely but can link. Photo of what I am calling a Moebius Hug. Other people may call it Cat Bordhis Purl Ridge Moebius Scarf. Is a weird mathematical shape with only one boundary and one side - the purple edging along what looks like two sides was just one continuous i-cord. The main yarn is Parrot Pants. The Knitaholic: February 2010

http://theknitaholic.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

The random thoughts of a born-again knitter. Sunday, February 21, 2010. No news is good news. Or so the saying goes. The official news is that there is. No news. I fear bub has become confused as to how to get out - the last few days there has been lots of kicking and pushing on the tum I think it is trying to break out Alien-style. I have taken to crossing off the dates on the calendar in our toilet, counting down to eviction day. The end is in sight one way or another. Links to this post. The hat has b...

The Kniss Family

Wednesday, April 4, 2012. I feel like I need a weekend of solitude to process the many events, feelings, and blessings from our mission to Rwanda. We had such and amazing trip and can't wait to see how God is going to use this in our life and with those around us. I know many have read this blog and it is my hope that you wonder how you could get involved? How could you help? Here are a few ways if you feel led. Wall charts (alphabet, number, biological diagram, time tables, etc). Abby with Pastor Charle...

Theknitaholic's Blog | Knitting down the stash in 2011

Knitting down the stash in 2011. January 3, 2014. So trying to get myself back to blogging. I took a bit of a hiatus when I joined Ravelry; then I took a hiatus from Ravelry and even knitting (! About halfway through 2013. I think one knitted article a month is do-able. Achievable goals is my resolution for 2014. I have one skein (199 metres) of fuschia. Worsted merino; super-soft and lovely to knit but piles like crazy. I am making a double-bump scarf. April 26, 2011. The Politically Correct Baby Jacket.

Sunday, 27 April 2014. How-to knit Kings Balls. Here's the patterns for the Kingsday rings I was knitting in-public on Kingsday in Korte Lauwerstraat in Utrecht. Pattern is fairly straight forward and self-explanatory. The basic model is based on the infamous christmas balls by Arne and Carlos. If you want to make an easier and simpler model, you can easily drop the flag stripes in the tips. Location: Wittevrouwen, Utrecht, Nederland. Kingsday knitting in public. Very friendly and enthusiastic neighbor.
