Ground Flow: Tomatoes, Tomatoes... Pizza, Arabiatta, Stuffed!
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2009/08/tomatoes-tomatoes-pizza-arabiatta.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Saturday, August 15, 2009. Tomatoes, Tomatoes. Pizza, Arabiatta, Stuffed! Tomato season has officially started! It's been just over a week that we have 4-5 tomatoes a day. That means if we don't pick or eat tomatoes for one day we have 8-10 to contend with. This morning, however I picked 21 tomatoes. Had it been that long that I had looked into our little greenhouse? Or maybe the past week as just the teaser! And it was hard work! Here are some more pictures:. Recip...
Ground Flow: April 2008
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Monday, April 28, 2008. We had the first breakfast on the patio this weekend (twice! Well it was noon, but it was the first meal of the day. And yesterday evening, we had dinner on the patio too! I think we can finally say spring has arrived in Flanders. We planted thyme, parsley, and our strawberry seedlings. We also bought a couple of lavendar plants and planted a baby tomato plant. Perhaps it's all wishful thinking. Friday, April 25, 2008. Come one, come all!
Ground Flow: Red Bean Paste
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2012/11/red-bean-paste.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Sunday, November 18, 2012. I made this in the middle of my health crisis, when sugar had to be seriously curtailed, but I just couldn't eat anymore brothy chicken soup with rice for breakfast. I needed my warm fruit and grain breakfast. I know that beans are, basically, my body's version of "best food EVER", so I needed to get beans into something sweet. How was I going to do that? Basically, the recipe is 60/40 beans and dates. But 50/50 is also good! When the bean...
Ground Flow: Garden Sunshine
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2009/08/garden-sunshine.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Monday, August 10, 2009. This lemon yellow sunflower woke us up a few mornings ago. It's sorbet color, plus it's height (about 2 meters) makes sure it gets lots of attention. Another lace-like flower. Melding yellow into green. I planted dill for the chance to make yogurt sauces and delicate, yet flavor-packed fish - - but I also wanted the flowers. And next to the coriander, it creates a lacy curtain in front of our sunflowers. August 10, 2009 at 1:49 PM. No flour,...
Ground Flow: Cinnamon-Nutmeg Kasha Granola
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2012/11/cinnamon-nutmeg-kasha-granola-kasha-has.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Sunday, November 18, 2012. Kasha has a weird taste. I don't care what anyone says, it smells, tastes and feels funny. and not in a nice way. But then I remembered a cereal I used to get from Whole Foods called "Kasha" and I realized, just like any grain I could roast/dry it, as in a granola. Then it would be crunchy and I could add sweetness and flavor (MUST add flavor)! 1 cup of Kasha (roasted buckwheat). A pinch of salt. 1/4-1/2 tsp of cinnamon. Pour the Kasha in ...
Ground Flow: Elderberries To The Rescue
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2009/08/elderberries-to-rescue.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Saturday, August 22, 2009. Elderberries To The Rescue. Last week, we went over to our friend's house in the south of Belgium. They live in a small valley, and have woods behind their huge backyard. It was supposed to be the height of the Leo Perseids meteor shower/show. But it was cloudy and rainy all evening and all night. So that ended that. And I have FINALLY gotten to all those berries taking up a whole shelf in the fridge. But after debating between jelly or sy...
Ground Flow: The Blackberry-Apple Ritual
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2009/08/blackberry-apple-ritual.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. We would pick blackberries until our fingers were deep red with juices - looking like we had lost the fight with the blackberry thorns. But we would emerge smiling and carrying bounty! So now you know why I had to make this. This is the late summer ritual. Even if our bush isn't that large and our harvest wasn't that huge. Plus, we have apples from our garden. And these were the first ripe ones! Love your apple crumble. In My Kitchen Garden.
Ground Flow: July 2009
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Over the past week, our apple tree has been shedding some of the smaller fruit. I can't tell whether it is the wind, or some sort of self-pruning mechanism. So now we have 7 small green apples. and someone suggested CHUTNEY. What a great idea! Now that I've begun making preserves. I have found two recipes. One that is more "English". The other more "Indian". I haven't decided which one I'll make yet. Any votes? Sunday, July 5, 2009. Yogurt ...
Ground Flow: No flour, hardly any sugar... and the shops are closed
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2009/08/no-flour-hardly-any-sugar-and-shops-are.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Sunday, August 9, 2009. No flour, hardly any sugar. and the shops are closed. This is really going to be a non-post, but I had all these things planned for today and my pantry is empty (well, not as full as it should be). And it is Sunday afternoon, so all the stores are closed. So in the meantime, I'm posting a picture of the red currant-cherry jam on bread with butter. That gorgeous red-purple color looks beautiful in the sun. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Ground Flow: November 2008
http://groundflow.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
A Food Experiment. From Seed to Table. Tuesday, November 18, 2008. So, I'm not good at this blogging thing. And I don't really have much to say. Ok, well that's a lie. but still deciding whether this will be a food blog or a political blog or a blog on health and wellness. Currently, this is what is on my mind:. The EU says it will sue the U.S. if they bail out GM and Ford. And, I have to agree with the EU and the Republicans(! What is the greater threat? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). In My Kitchen Garden.

A place I hope will inspire you to pick up your needles and yarn, and create wonderful things with me. Thursday, 22 October 2015. Everything coming up Poppies. November 11 Rememberance Day. The poppies were made by the veterans themselves from 1922 to 1997 as part of a “Vetcraft” program to find work for unemployed, disabled vets. The Royal Canadian Legion is now in charge, and the poppies are made at a company in Ottawa. The woman honoured the legion’s wishes. But the story has sent the organization int...

The Knitting Bea | Go ahead, drop a stitch!
Go ahead, drop a stitch! As the weather gets colder…. October 20, 2012. I turn back to my knitting needles and yarn, pleased to re-acquaint myself with their familiar weight, heft, and to get my “knitting muscles” back into shape. That I may or may not include in this version. If not, I’d leave the neck opening larger to accommodate for slipping over my son’s head. My mom and dad came to visit recently, and my mom brought the most gorgeous sweater I’ve ever seen! Here’s a link to the magazine. A friend f...

The Knitting Blog | from firefly at I Live on a Farm
From firefly at I Live on a Farm. New Pattern: Seussian Christmas Stocking. On December 15, 2009 by firefly8868. I just completed this Christmas Stocking for our dear little Sweet Pea. This will be her official Christmas Stocking that will stay on the farm with Grandma and Grandpa. When I first showed it to her, she let out a happy squeal and leaned forward to look more closely with a big grin on her face … at 9 months old she already appreciates knitting projects! Reaching out from the past. Great-aunt,...

Sunday, July 26, 2015. Fingerless Mitts and Simcha's Corner. You'll laugh when I tell you how long ago I began these fingerless mitts. It was back in June 2009 and the only reason I recollect the date is that I added the project to my Ravelry notebook! I'm not sure why I waited so long to finish them up. They are super soft and will be fantastic to wear this winter. I guess it was just a case of too many WIPs. 1 skein Blue Sky Alpaca, Royal Alpaca (leftover yarn from my Swallowtail Shawl. It's been a lon...
