The Land of Counterpane

The Land of Counterpane. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. What I bought on my holidays. On the way back from our recent trip to Kent we called in at the Roman fort of Richborough Castle ( Rutupiae. For you Latins). In the gift shop I found this nice book on the Roman Army and its enemies. It's published by Osprey and many of the illustrations look like they first saw the light of day in Men At Arms books and I guess much of the text may have done so too. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. First Go At Saga. Jamie has spe...

The Land of Counterpane: June 2015

http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

The Land of Counterpane. Monday, June 29, 2015. There's not been much to report on here in recent weeks. The garden got rather out of hand while my Mum was in hospital as I was going over to Merseyside most weekends. Now the full flush of Summer has arrived there's been a jungle to clear. So wargames production has been limited - parts for my 6mm scale Gothic encampment and another Polish pancerny regiment (again 6mm). What I have had time for is reading. Scattered around the place are:. 8220;Onslaught o...

The Land of Counterpane: Enough is Enough

http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2015/07/enough-is-enough.html

The Land of Counterpane. Sunday, July 5, 2015. The remnants of a pack of Baccus. Late Roman lanciarii were looking at me funny. "Use us" they were saying, but I didn't really need more light infantry. Now, I know they work quite adequately as close order Auxilia but I didn't have enough for a whole unit as I've previously based them. The solution I came up with was to add a little diorama element in the form of a muleteer quickly taking the unit's supplies to the rear:. I love the idea of the baggage.

The Land of Counterpane: February 2015

http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

The Land of Counterpane. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. 6mm Late Roman Army. Pete Berry is a very bad man. He keeps making me buy whole armies of Baccus miniatures. The latest to achieve something like finished status is my Late Roman army:. Many of the units have been seen here before but, on painting the last few figures, I thought it time to have an overview. The latest addition is this heavy cavalry unit:. They're actually Baccus light cavalry with painted-on bronze scale corselets. And started the sm...

The Land of Counterpane: November 2014

http://thelandofcounterpane.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

The Land of Counterpane. Saturday, November 29, 2014. Last night Jamie, George and I ran a game for the kids at Bradfield Dungworth School's Christmas Fair. Having done mostly fantasy previously (we did do some Roman Gladiator stuff once) it was interesting to see their response to a historical game. In short, enthusiastic! Having charged the kids to "buy" the toys they used in the game (from a £1 T-34 to a £2.50 Ferdinand) I was very pleased that we raised over £30 for PFA funds. Being away for the week...

118 Fister's Game Blog. View my complete profile. Thursday, August 13, 2015. Star Fleet Battles Sunday. You can see my ship on the far right. At the beginning of the next turn I deployed my stinger 2 fighter. As Both mike and Christian started drop boarding parties. Mike also tried to use his shuttle to drop off troops but it was quickly shot down. I then found myself in trouble with Christian closing on my aft along with his fight and a plasma torpedo. I used my rear phasers on the torpedo then did ...

The Land of Crocker | Just trying to figure it all out

The Land of Crocker. Just trying to figure it all out. October 19, 2012 by thelandofcrocker. Over the last few months the boys have learned to crawl and pull up on everything. We also got a new compute so I’ve been trying to move pictures and get use to the new programs. So I’ll try to catch up with pictures in the meantime. Taken July 30 Jac on left and Henry on the right. Jac finally up on all fours. Henry’s beautiful blue eyes. The rough-housing has begun. (Henry on top and Jac on the floor.). Jac&#82...
