Last November, we travelled to Crystal River to take one of the "Swim with the Manatees" tours. It was a great trip. Wednesday, August 8, 2007. Home-made hurricane storm shutters. There is no question, professionally manufactured and installed shutters would be my preference, but they are expensive. I made these shutters from free plans provided by the APA-Engineered Wood Association (http:/ www.apawood.org/). My costs were a couple hundred dollars for wood and the barrel bolts.
