Approaching the Equinox, Looking Back at a Difficult Year | the Literate Condition
https://theliteratecondition.wordpress.com/2016/09/19/approaching-the-equinox-looking-back-at-a-difficult-year
We must write as if our lives depend on it. Approaching the Equinox, Looking Back at a Difficult Year. Asymp; Leave a comment. Why doesn't it feel like success? This year has not been easy: a new job that has steadily, repeatedly required me to work overtime; health issues; the usual. But I’m out of credit card debt (student loans are another matter), was able to take my cat to the vet, and I may be able to go to the dentist soon as well. Larr; Previous post. Next post →. A Sampler”, is scheduled to appear in the Winter 2017 issue of Kaleidotrope. I will post the link when the poem and issue are live. Was a much needed positive, good-things-can-happen-too, don’t-give-up-! Reminder for me to keep working, to not give up. And there’s one other bit of good news that I can share in a couple days. Sara Saab is a now-and-then writer of sentences. Stuff I read in 2014. December 31, 2014. I read 21 books (not including magazines) in 2014. This is the first year I keep count, so I can’t tell if this is impressive compared to a baseline. But next year, I’ll have a number to beat. Here’s everything I read chronologically from the beginning to the end of the year, with notes. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Signal to Noise by Neil Gaiman. 8211; Moving graphic novel about mortality and art. 8211; Th...

Three plot-driven pieces this month, although I’ve read and loved a lot of unusual story shapes since last month’s review, like a collection of ragtag storyteddies, stuffing half pulled out, piled on a windowsill. Sara Saab is a now-and-then writer of sentences. Setting up, getting comfortable. August 12, 2014. Welcome to my tiny opalescent tile in the mosaic that is the web! I’ve set up this website to catalogue my published fiction and poetry. But I hope, sort of shyly, sort of obliquely, that eventually I’ll be writing froth-lipped essays here, or posting the odd picture of rush hour London, or retreating to these comfortable abodes when 140 characters become too stark and oppressive a medium.

Sara Saab is a now-and-then writer of sentences. Short Bread – December 2014. December 11, 2014. I’ve decided to do a regular roundup of short stories I’ve read and loved recently. They may not be fresh out the oven; they may not be gluten-free–but they will definitely have left me with something, an earthy taste, an indelible warmth or grain or moment. This will also give me something to look back on for Nebula noms and end-of-year roundups in the future. She Dances on Knives. Rasali Ferry is one of the...

It's a Dog's Life. Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Last night, I started school. We arrived in time to see Maggie, a rescue corgi, graduate from intermediate school which was really cool. She is a beautiful dog. My class includes a dachshund named Lulu. Some think dachshunds are funny looking because they have long bodies and short legs . to me, they are really beautiful. Another approach is the “new school” method called positive reinforcement, where “good behavior is rewarded.”. Howl with me now: “Nee...

Friday, October 22, 2010. Thought about doing this for a while, creating a more public space to write about life and my family. The theme of this blog? Being a mom, wife, and geek [edit: and a writer. How did I forget about that? I think that's a good combo, it makes me at least moderately. I hope so. I get the feeling all of my friends who watch me on LJ in the first place are going to be the only ones who care about this. Boring post is boring but introductory. Sorry. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
