Raquo; Cody Sheppard. Dylan in the News. Cody in the News. Dylan and Cody's Special Places. Stories of affected children and families. Cody Darren, our first child was born on the 28th April 2004. A day after Cody was born he was admitted to the intensive care unit for further assessment due to poor feeding, high muscle tone, and little responsiveness. During the next couple of days we believed that our dream of having a family was no longer a dream, and spent days questioning our faith and asking why us?

Let’s Challenge ANOTHER Word, Shall We? | Being Benjamin

https://inlovewithben.wordpress.com/2015/03/19/lets-challenge-another-word-shall-we

All about the Busques. Let’s Challenge ANOTHER Word, Shall We? March 19, 2015. I doubt that – to read that I challenge yet another word associated with Ben’s diagnosis and life journey. This challenge isn’t like my internally brewing frustration for the use of “retarded” but instead a question of why a word is used when referring to my son (or your son or you daughter). The word is SEVERELY. Strictly or harshly. “the culprits will be severely punished”. Well duh. Can we change it? Sufficiently great or i...

All about the Busques. World Rare Disease Day 2015. February 28, 2015. Ever wished you could do something to show you care about rare? To spread awareness and provide opportunities for education? Today is that day! And it’s ridiculously easy! When someone tells you how hot you look – tell them why you’re wearing them. Because you know someone living with a rare disease. When someone else is wearing blue jeans, ask them if they care about rare? It’s about spreading the word. We all have blue jeans. You ar...

All about the Busques. All posts by kristibusque. March 24, 2016. As we’re sitting in Kindergarten Information Night and the teacher is talking the group through what to expect over the year for our children, special needs children comes up in the conversation. A parent, near the back of the room asks “special needs kids in the classroom? What do you think about. What does get my defenses up is the tone of which the question was asked “about. About a child with equal entitlement to an education? Way but ...

Pushing Limitations | Being Benjamin

https://inlovewithben.wordpress.com/2015/06/29/pushing-limitations

All about the Busques. June 29, 2015. I find it very frustrating as a parent of a special needs child when parents refuse to accept more. When labels, pre-conceived ideas or even history negatively impact pushing the “limits” of our children. I personally believe that by allowing these ideas of what our children can only be, that we’re deciding just how much of a person they get to be. Why do we not constantly lift barriers by encouraging people to overcome their diagnosis? Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Live life, love life. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. To My 4 Months Old Natalie. October 6, 2011. 4 months ago, I first felt your warmth when you were gently placed on my chest. Photographer's performance was not, unfortunately. we missed the prime window by weeks. Still, I eeked them in.
