Lime Rock Park Race - May 7th, 2005. The story of building and racing a Spec Miata. Monday, May 09, 2005. Lime Rock Park Race - May 7th, 2005. Results from the regional race at Lime Rock Park are here. All of the Spec Miatas were impounded after qualifying. They seemed to be looking for issues with cage construction and design. I worked up 5 positions to finish in the 17th spot out of 25 cars by the end of the race, which was a hell of a lot of fun! Here are two GREAT pictures posted by the NER SCCA:.

Spec Miata Saga:
http://specmiata.blogspot.com/2005/03/mazdaspeed-tow-eyes.html
The story of building and racing a Spec Miata. Sunday, March 13, 2005. This year, the SCCA requires that all cars have a front a rear tow eye with an inside diameter of 2 inches. The stock tow eyes do not meet that requirement, so Mazdaspeed just added these to their website. They are very heavy duty and install directly into the stock location, with the stock bolts. Very nicely made. Posted by Jason @ 13:13. Suspension Setup and Alignment. Front Suspension and Exhaust Installed.

WDCR Summit Driver's School. The story of building and racing a Spec Miata. Friday, April 15, 2005. WDCR Summit Driver's School. In mid-March I completed my first SCCA driver's school. It was run, quite professionally, by the Washington D.C. Region SCCA. At Summit Point Raceway. It was a very fun and challenging school! Can't wait for my second! Yosh was my crew for the school and we shared paddock space with Bill Ball. And his son, Andrew (who borrowed Jack Banha's M3 for the school).

Spec Miata Saga:
http://specmiata.blogspot.com/2005/04/new-trailer.html
The story of building and racing a Spec Miata. Friday, April 15, 2005. We bought a new 18 foot long, open steel trailer made by Bri-Mar. It is pretty darned nice, powder coated and with all of the accessories we needed. After checking out the trailer, we did some maintenance after the Summit Point school. Basically, we just had to bleed the brakes and change the oil! Tires and brake pads are fine. We also washed the car. Posted by Jason @ 11:11. WDCR Summit Drivers School. http://specmiata.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html
The story of building and racing a Spec Miata. Friday, February 18, 2005. The past several nights we've knocked out a bunch of work on the car. We now have finished installing the electrical cutoff switch, the fuel test port, the fire extinguisher, and the AMB transponder! We only have a few things left, such as installing the window net and harnesses, bolting down the top completely, and affixing all of the logos and decals on the car. We're close! Summit Point Raceway - MARRS 5 - 7/10/05. The story of building and racing a Spec Miata. Monday, July 11, 2005. Summit Point Raceway - MARRS 5 - 7/10/05. In the race I surprised even myself, by progressively going faster and faster. I passed 7 other cars to come in 20th! I had a great battle trying (but failing) to catch car #39 for 19th place. I ran a 1:33:919 - my best lap ever - at an average speed of 76.6618 mph. :-). I also go signed off with my regional license - one race early!

The story of building and racing a Spec Miata. Sunday, December 05, 2004. I am finally catching up with some old posts. Back in the late November, 2004, we got the car back from our cage builder and set to work painting it about 2 weeks later. First we prepared the car by taping and papering off everything that we did not want to paint:. Then we put on 2 coats of primer:. Then we put on 2 coats of grey paint:. Posted by Jason @ 11:35. Spec Miata Saga: January 2005
http://specmiata.blogspot.com/2005_01_01_archive.html
The story of building and racing a Spec Miata. Sunday, January 30, 2005. We found good directions on this proceedure here at Miata.Net. We also reinstalled the heater controls after a lot of trimming. The rollbar passed about 12cm behind this part of the dash so the heater unit was too deep. We were able to hook it up so that the fan speed controller still works. However, none of the sliders work so adjustment will need to be done manually, under the dash, at the heater core. :-( Oh well. So in order to ...

Spec Miata Saga: October 2004
http://specmiata.blogspot.com/2004_10_01_archive.html
The story of building and racing a Spec Miata. Thursday, October 28, 2004. Custom Cage Almost Ready. The custom cage Kalani is building is nearly complete. We ended up having to bolt the seat to the floor - not enough head clearance with a helmet on if we used the seat rails. We also have enough arm room to only slightly gut the bottom of the door - it will allow us to keep the driver's side window (which will be nice, since the car is stored outdoors.).
