Monday, August 5, 2013. Human Cultural Evolution: The Malthusian Theory. By Lynden S. Williams. This is the first of three papers that examine the ‘supply-side’ theory of human cultural evolution and the alternative ‘demand-side’ theory. The ‘supply-side’ theory was expounded by Thomas Malthus in the early 1800’s as The Principle of Population. And in 1830 in a shortened version as A Summary View of the Principle of Population,. Referred to generally as the Malthusian Theory. I suggest that text book exp...

The Logical Middle: October 2007

http://thelogicalmiddle.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 5, 2007. What do we know about global climate change? More recently it has been proposed that human use of fossil fuels can increase “greenhouse effect” which could cause, or increase the pace of, global warming. This theory is unproven, but it merits our attention. We will discuss that theory after considering what is know about past climate change. How do we know what global temperatures were in the past? Human Role in Climate Change. CO2 and Global Warming. We must try to fail-safe; th...

The Logical Middle: June 2009

http://thelogicalmiddle.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 4, 2009. Current European Population Decline. What could possess a society to willingly commit mass suicide? Politically correct speech may sound nice, but who would believe that will alter the truth? Currently one-third of grammar school children in Germany were born to immigrants, mostly Turkish Islamic immigrants. Does someone suppose it will not be fifty percent in a decade or so, and seventy-five percent a couple of decades later? How can people face certain catastrophe and ignore it?

The Logical Middle: July 2009

http://thelogicalmiddle.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 22, 2009. The Theory of Limited Good. Shared poverty was typical in tribal societies where resources were generally held in communal tenure and all members of the group were more or less economic equals (although, murder, rape, plunder and enslavement of persons outside the group was the norm in tribal societies). People in tribal societies held most of their productive resources in communal tenure because those resources were not scarce, and there was no motive for personal ownership.

Monday, August 5, 2013. Human Cultural Evolution: The Boserup Theory. By Lynden S. Williams. This is the second of a three part series in which we will examine the ‘demand-side’ or Boserup Theory of human cultural evolution. In Part One I laid out the ‘supply-side’ or Malthusian Theory. I strongly recommend that you read Part One first. In Part Three I will argue in favor of the Boserup Theory and discuss some of the implications of human cultural evolution from that perspective. The Boserup Theory [1].

the logical man

What is a logical man? Who is this guy? Well, in my first post I will tell you a little about me and how I have the audacity to now call myself a logical man. But what you need to know now is this: I’ve started this site. To push my views on others, but to educate others on the things I wish I had known many years ago. We only have a short amount of time on this beautiful planet, so why not make the most of it? Thanks for visiting and stay tuned for more. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

The Logical Mormon | Demystifying Modern Mormonism

Glossary or Translating Mormonese. I have always enjoyed the process of using logic to answer a question or solve a problem: starting with a set of assumptions and then using knowledge of relevant facts to reason out a set of possible answers and then examining each solution to pick the best fit. When I was growing up, I assumed that everyone approached questions this way. I hope to use this blog as a platform to both help other members of the Church who may have questions about seeming incongruities bet...

Friday, August 6, 2010. David Babaii: The Salon Feel Minus the Chemicals. I stumbled upon David Babaii for WildAid, and decided to try out the Babaii hydrating conditioner. The eco-friendly formula is free of Parabens, Sulfates, Petrochemicals and animal products. And with a campaign catering to animal welfare, you can be sure they don't test their products on animals either. I smiled a little smile, knowing I spent a fraction of cost, helped a cause, and treated my hair to beautiful natural ingredients.

Logical Outlook

A blog about atheism, politics, guns and everything else that will make you mad. Thursday, November 7, 2013. Policy-schmolicy. Show me the money! Last Tuesday was election day in many parts of the country. Right now, you may be celebrating or thumping your head on your desk in disbelief. But were those election results proof that, like it or not, the country favors certain policy positions? See if you can pick the winner of each race. Terry McAuliffe—raised $35 million.
