Tuesday, June 15, 2004. 7 weeks and counting. When I told a friend in passing on the weekend that we needed to get things with the house plans finalists I didn't realise until the words "7 weeks to go" were out of my mouth that we only have SEVEN WEEKS until we leave! I felt like the woman on that cleaning product advert on TV where she sees her relatives coming down the drive and her house is a mess - if only there was 'Spray'n'wipe' for road trip planning! Thursday, September 23, 2004. Up at what felt like the middle of the night! The room was still dark as it was underground so the daylight couldn't get through. Surprised to find out it was 8:15am! Went to the Opal Cave and bought Shaz an Opal (lucky Shaz! Then fuelled up and hit the road. The road to Port Augusta was quite monotonous -a although it did change from desert to scrub as we got closer to the coast. The only casualty of the trip was Mike hitting a blue tongue lizard (he was very upset).

Friday, September 24, 2004. Room service breakfast arrived at 7am - eggs, bacon, coffee and juice. we should have had this every day of the trip! Imagine room service to a tent in Marble Bar *grin*. Went outside and found out we had a flat - a slow leak that had gone down overnight, so aptly changed by Mike and to Bob Jane for a repair. Got great service - we highly recommend Bob Jane to people travelling - and they even let us 'jump the queue' when we said we were on the road. And so ends the long drive!

Wednesday, September 22, 2004. On the road again (finally). The part didn't arrive and was accidentally re-routed to Melbourne (! So we got it resent to SWIRE our mechanics at home and left at 1:30pm after saying our goodbyes to Glen and the guys at Alice Break and Clutch - who have been totally fabulous throughout the whole thing!
