Unmapped: Say What
http://themackenziechronicles.blogspot.com/2015/03/say-what.html
Rotary Exchange Student in GERMANY 2014-15. Saturday, March 28, 2015. There are some many differences here in this great country! I heard this also works for telemarketers.eeek). ILLEGAL. Thats right, that is not allowed here. The government requires that you must bring your child to public school/private school. It is a bit opposite because here public schools are considered better, and more prestigious. Typical families eat one hot meal a day, and that is at about 2pm. It is not necessarily conside...

Rotary Exchange Student in GERMANY 2014-15. Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Guess where the Christmas tree tradition began? Here you can find facts, legends, and a little more about what the first trees were like. http:/ www.whychristmas.com/customs/trees.shtml. German trees are very different then our trees. They are very wide at the base, and the top is a bit thin. The tree we ended up choosing was one of the more full trees. They couldn't beleieve that we didn't put candles on our tree in Indiana.). Unmapped: Goodbye Prague
http://themackenziechronicles.blogspot.com/2015/05/goodbye-prague.html
Rotary Exchange Student in GERMANY 2014-15. Thursday, May 21, 2015. Early this morning I said a sad goodbye to Prague. Prague was such a beautiful city! Midevil San Fransisco will be missed. The money change was definitely confusing. 1 Euro was equal to 26,5 Krones. However, many people exchanged it for 25 or even 27. You had to hunt for the best deal. The weirdest thing was in many shopes they accepted Euros. In Prague, I bought the cheapest, yet most artistic Jewlery! It is a monster elephant :). I am ...

Sunday, May 31, 2015. Neon lights on a building in Darling Harbour. When we arrived in Darling Harbour, we watched a free 30 minutes laser and light show. It was really spectacular and super cool to watch! The lights around Darling Harbour. Once the laser/light show finished, we headed to where the boats dock to board our boat for a Sydney Harbour cruise! I'm so glad Cathy thought of the Harbour Cruise when she organised this trip because it was just phenomenal! The Harbour Bridge lit up from the water!

Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Top Ten Tuesday #2: 10 Good Things from the Past Two Days. 1 Today, my host parents headed back home to Casino, NSW. I'm so glad I was able to meet them and get to know relatives of my host family, but I'm so happy to finally be back in my bedroom. Since I had to move all of my clothes out of my dresser and put them in my closet, I spent a good part of the morning reorganizing, which was pretty therapeutic. My beautiful muffins and new cooking gadgets. Thanks mom! 5 Today I al...

Saturday, April 25, 2015. Since I have been back, I have been very busy! The start of our bush walk. It was such a beautiful walk and day! I did my Rotary presentation and my presentation that I had prepared wouldn't load, so I went to plan B and just went through the photos on my memory card. Everyone LOVED my cupcakes. Note future exchange students that the way to your Rotary Club's heart is to bake for them. Red Velvet Cupcakes with homemade cream cheese frosting :). The start of the parade. More of t...

American Aussie: February 2015
http://sydneyamericanaussie.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Last weekend, Terri, Caitlin, Magdalena, and I headed to Newcastle for the "Light Up Newcastle" event. This was a Rotary fundraising event commissioned to raise money to buy a van for an organization in Newcastle and also for the exchange students to help Rotary raise money for Rotary International's ongoing "End Polio" campaign. When we finally go to the event, I was amazed at the decorations along the waterfront! To raise money for the van, booths were set up selling Chine...

She was leaving Saturday to go to Bathurst to get settled in before before beginning her trainee ship Tuesday at a child care center. So to celebrate her job and to say goodbye we all headed out to Roth's Wine Bar in Mudgee for a fancy farewell dinner. My dinner salmon and veggies. It was so delicious! Not a year within a lifetime, but a lifetime within a year.". Here are some pictures from Friday! Thats all for now! Maggie and I are the only ones left in the States! Sophie, Sydney, Hannah, Kenzie, and Erin have all left to go to their countries. The Mackens Family
Thursday, July 24, 2014. Not spring, summer. ha. Ok so last post was just published now, July 23 2014, but was written back in spring 2013. Obviously I've been slacking in the blogging department. Believe it or not, we are one week from our son Everett's first birthday. In the last post I was only pregnant with the little guy. Crazy how time flies! Speaking of Maddie, determined is her middle name! She doesn't let anything stand in her way and she wants what she wants! Most days it was/is a battle of wil...
