Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. July 27, 2015. Our little man is certainly exerting his independence these days. Lately he wants to do everything himself — from buckling himself in his car seat, to brushing his own teeth (despite the fact that we do a much better job doing it for him), to opening doors and turning off lights — if we try do something for him, he immediately shrieks, “NO! 8221; He’s been using. 8212; but the message is clear: back off, mom! 8221; He yells, “No, Theo help! Welcome to the world, Emmett! Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. May 19, 2016. This is certainly not a post I ever thought I’d be writing at just 26 weeks 2 days. I know is is probably way more information than most people would ever want to read, but recalling all the details helps me process. So glad I got that. Holding Daddy’s hand. Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. In health and body. May 16, 2016. So let’s get to it…. Now has heartburn almost ALL THE TIME. Fun! The good news is, I passed ...

Tied together with a smile when you’re coming undone…. Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. In health and body. November 9, 2011. Today a coworker told me that he and his wife are expecting a baby just 5 days after what was supposed to be our due date and it took everything in me to smile and say congratulations, while I felt like bursting into tears. You see, we had our ultrasound on Monday and it didn’t go well. So then, we had to go. What if this is the first of three or more? Celebs and pop culture.

Category Archives: health and body. NICU day 61 and 2 months old. Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. July 18, 2016. Today Emmett is two months old. And we’ve been here 61 days now. With any luck we’re about 2/3 of the way through this NICU journey. This evening I hurried back to the hospital after dinner so I could get here for his 8:30 cares and give breastfeeding another shot. I’m happy to say we had, by far, the most successful session to date. More about that below. Being held. His oxygen an...

My doctor was incredibly compassionate yesterday — she obliged my last-minute panic and request for another ultrasound before surgery just to be sure the baby was really gone (she said she gets that request a lot), and she got us hand and foot prints of our baby, which was sweet of her to think to do. I took the afternoon...

Author Archives: Keeping up with the Hoffmans. NICU day 98 – HOME. Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. August 24, 2016. I’m going to cut this post short because I need to get to bed. And unlike in the hospital, there will be no nurses to feed him when he wakes up in a few hours. Now the real fun begins…. A final quiet moment in the hospital. Headed home as a family of four! Waiting for Daddy to bring the car around. Fun in the swing. Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. August 23, 2016. Lots of go...

Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. In celebs and pop culture. Songs, quotes and poems. July 9, 2015. Yesterday I had my surgery. I learned after the fact that they ended up doing a D&E instead of a D&C because of how big the baby was. It’s a similar procedure, but involves dilating the cervix more and uses different methods to get the baby out. As a result, I’ve been a little more crampy and am bleeding more than I did immediately following the last time. The juxtaposition of watching Kimmy Schmidt ...

Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. June 20, 2016. Poor Theo. Usually it’s the second child that gets the shaft, but then E came along and stole all his big brother’s thunder. I hadn’t even gotten thank you cards out for T’s birthday party (and still haven’t! When E came barrelling into this world three months ahead of schedule. So I thought I’d show my firstborn some love and dedicate this post to him. Because he is kind of amazing. First, his birthday was a wild success! Eating has been a battle of...

Happy Birthday, Theo! Posted by Keeping up with the Hoffmans. May 17, 2013. The (very) long version is…. We were actually doing this. Was straight out of the movies! Dead leg aside, I was sooo glad I had gotten an epidural. The other thing about pushing that I hadn’t anticipated was that it takes a really long time! Let me tell you something about giving birth: when the baby is. Push It was torture. Love at first sight. 8 lbs 3.6 oz. The trademark lip quiver. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are commentin...
