Kookie in dubai - tales in the desert city. Sunday, March 18. Every Grain of Sand. A few days ago there was a big sand storm. Imagine a really windy day with your hair going crazy and add to this tiny particles of sand blowing around. Ick. The one thing that we did see though was an active street sweeper.makes sense yeah? Kookie in dubai - tales in the desert city. Sunday, March 19. This blog name is a little white lie. I'm actually in Melbourne, Australia and am about to head over to Dubai and follow my partner, P, in the name of love. P is an architect and like a lot of people in Dubai has a high flying job that pays him lots of $ $ . Meanwhile I'm finishing off my work commitments in Melbourne and will be there by the end of April. Posted by kookie at 5:42 am. I am addicted to films, books and eating.
A Town and a Half: February 2009
http://townandahalf.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
A Town and a Half. Sunday, February 22, 2009. What happened THIS week. We have had to do a fair bit of adjusting recently, and this week I got to do just a little bit more. This week I changed employers. I didn't change jobs, rather my job changed around me. Of course the first rule of blogging is: don't talk about work. But work is all I've been doing recently, so talk about it I will. It's just a job to me now. . Saturday, February 14, 2009. But I know that I am really. Obviously there are ups an...

A Town and a Half. Friday, June 05, 2009. Our Lily is afraid of sheep. She HATES them. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). There was an error in this gadget. A Town and a Half started in Townsville, North Queensland. Now I've crossed the country to Bunbury, in the south of Western Australia. It's been a big change. One I'm still getting used to. A Poem A Day.

A Town and a Half. Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Originally uploaded by &Naomi. What a lovely birthday! I got completely spoilt with presents, lots of lovely messages from friends and family all over the world, a fancy dinner on the town, and as you can see, cake (pity I didn't manage to take the photo before there were a couple of bites taken out). Working, a couple of fun freezing months in New Zealand, then washing up on the other side of Australia and taking up studying again. Settling into Bunbury a...
A Town and a Half: October 2009

A Town and a Half. Monday, October 26, 2009. We're so busy hanging out near the river and the estuary that we often forget to go to the beach. There's a lot of water around here, OK? We can't get to all of it, all of the time. Thursday, October 15, 2009. Make me coffee in the morning. Life in Bunbury was depressing. This morning I was cleaning up near the stove and I noticed that the pile of morning coffee notes has grown quite tall! Monday, October 12, 2009. Friday, October 09, 2009. Earlier this the we...
A Town and a Half: April 2009
http://townandahalf.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
A Town and a Half. Thursday, April 09, 2009. On the Job Front. Recently I have been thinking that it is a bit of a shame, really, not to be documenting this phase of our lives more closely. I mean, it might be helpful, or useful, or even interesting for other people to hear a little bit about what it's been like for us to be participating in this global thing that's going on right now. This Global Recession. I don't know. Feels like spite). We're both staying positive, we're kind to each other an...

Kookie in dubai - tales in the desert city. Tuesday, October 24. Spirit In The Sky. It's Eid in Dubai which means that the holy month of Ramadan is now over. Ramadan is a time for self reflection for Muslims and is a month of fasting and prayer. During this month they can't consume anything between sunrise and sunset: no food, no water and no physical acts such as exercise, sex or smoking. So if you are a Muslim the last 27 days would go something like this:. 0430 - get up, eat and go back to bed.
kookie in dubai - tales in the desert city: September 2006

Kookie in dubai - tales in the desert city. Thursday, September 14. A while ago I was sick. I had a UTI; that's a urinary tract infection. Enough said. I went to the chemist. I asked if they had any Ural. Blank looks all around. Mmm.ok.change tact. I attempted to describe the pain. The chemist looked at me and started pointing at his stomach and making loud, sort of farting, noises. He then asked 'deposits.you got the deposits'? No, no deposits' I replied. Ah, you have the wets then.you know wets? A woma...

Kookie in dubai - tales in the desert city. Thursday, February 22. Home Is Where The Heart Is. It's official - I am now a resident of the UAE. What does that mean? I can now apply for an alcohol licence which means that I can go to a large supermarket full of booze, buy it and drink it at home. I can get a full driving licence and be subjected to waiting in queues for hours in a government building to get it. I can purchase property with the millions of dirhams that I've saved here. Tuesday, February 20.

There has been something that has been bothering me for awhile. It regards my birthday. I was born on March 3rd, 1987. Doesn't sound that odd, right? But if you look at it this way.I was born 03/03. It gets weirder. I was born 03/03 at 12:03 am (or in military time 00:03). My question, or request rather:. There is believ...
