The Main Course: Best Gluten-Free Products

http://www.themaincourse-ck.blogspot.com/2011/02/best-gluten-free-products.html

Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Several people have asked me to post the gluten-free products that we enjoy. I haven't sampled every gluten-free product in the world, but I've tried a lot- some disgusting, some delicious! Here's the best of the products we've tried, divided into different categories. As a general rule, these are products we've found that people enjoy whether or not they have to restrict themselves to a gluten-free diet. Also, as a general, we have not. I can't wait to try it for pizza crust.

The Main Course: A Shipe Thanksgiving

http://www.themaincourse-ck.blogspot.com/2009/11/shipe-thanksgiving.html

Friday, November 27, 2009. I'm happy to report that Thanksgiving was a great day for the Shipe family! The food all turned out fine, even the turkey! We agreed that brining. Was an easy way to add lots of flavor to what can otherwise be a bland and dry bird. The creamed Swiss chard. Was a hit, even though most people had never even heard of chard before trying it. Also on the menu: gluten-free cornbread. Whipped sweet potatoes with caramelized apples. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Saturday, November 24, 2007. Whipped Sweet Potatoes with Caramelized Apples. From Martha Stewart Living. 4 large sweet potatoes, pierced with the times of a fork. 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened. 2 Tbls heavy cream. 1/2 cup organic, unsweetened applesauce*. 2 tsp grated fresh peeled ginger. 1 tsp coarse salt. 2 granny smith apples (1 pound), peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch pieces. 3 Transfer potato mixture to an ovenproof dish. Bake until heated through, about 10 minutes. All of the reci...

The Main Course: Orange Walnut Salad

http://www.themaincourse-ck.blogspot.com/2009/11/orange-walnut-salad.html

Friday, November 27, 2009. I served this salad at Thanksgiving this year, and it was delicious! Then pair it with a homemade vinaigrette that enhances the flavors you've chosen for your salad. With this salad, I used orange champagne vinegar to compliment the oranges in the salad. The basic rule of thumb for vinaigrette is Dijon mustard mixed with a 3 to 1 ration of oil to vinegar (or as much as a 5 to 1 ratio). Follow the directions below for making a vinaigrette from any kind of vinegar. All of the rec...

Give me plenty of warning, and please work out the timing, Father" Those had been my specific prayers for this baby, and what a truly awesome thing to see Him answer in such beautiful ways. He has a big head of very dark hair. His brothers seem to really get a kick out of him, and it's going to be fun to see his little personality develop in the coming weeks. Wednesday, March 13, 2013. LaRock Family Happenings: We have a 2-year old!

http://larockfamilyhappenings.blogspot.com/2015/04/we-have-2-year-old.html

Tuesday, April 7, 2015. We have a 2-year old! This little guy turned 2 back in March, and I thought it'd be fun to talk about our little whippersnapper today. Each time we have a child I have a hard time going back and remembering what life was like before they joined the family. It's incredible how quickly they just become part of us, and we're all that much better off. It's hard to believe that two years have gone by! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). LaRock Family Happenings: May 2015

http://larockfamilyhappenings.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 20, 2015. And the May birthday boy. As is usual for this guy, I'm way behind. Welcome to middle child existence, little one! He fights me every time I try to take his picture. This one I managed one night while I was tickling him in bed. His hair has turned more red this year, and freckles run across his nose. Add that to the round cheeks and blue eyes, and it's pretty easy to figure out who his mommy is! Ahhh, they grow up so fast! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). TJ, Susan and family.

LaRock Family Happenings: May 2014

http://larockfamilyhappenings.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 19, 2014. Sammy turned 5 on April 20th, which also happened to fall on Easter this year. I remember that day being very busy with church, little birthday party with the family and then Easter dinner with some extended family. He also asked for a clip board like Mike from Monster's, Inc. He likes to make lists and clues, he calls them. He does seem to like being in charge, (I sometimes call him the other mom of the family, haha) and he enjoys organizing things. We worked at school last fall an...

LaRock Family Happenings: Gluten Issues and Sourdough

http://larockfamilyhappenings.blogspot.com/2014/04/gluten-issues-and-sourdough.html

Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Gluten Issues and Sourdough. I remember talking with someone once about the Paleo diet, and he made the comment, that bread wasn't even in the Bible. I know that is not true, and so I began my quest to find out how bread was made in the olden days, and to try and make it myself. The book mentioned above was incredibly helpful to me. This bread is half barley flour and half unbleached white wheat flour. He has not complained of a tummy ache either! Kefir in the making! Its the sea...

LaRock Family Happenings: It's the season of the birthdays at our house...

http://larockfamilyhappenings.blogspot.com/2014/04/its-season-of-birthdays-at-our-house.html

Tuesday, April 8, 2014. It's the season of the birthdays at our house. This little booger gets the spring birthdays started at our house. He was born on March 23rd, 2013 and turned one this year! Isaac has truly been a blessing to our growing family. I can't wait to see him toddling around outside this summer. He points to outside whenever I have him next to a window and says, "uh.uh! He LOVES the time we've spent outside this spring so far. April 8, 2014 at 12:35 PM. Happy belated birthday, little cutie!

Julie 'n Pete: February 2006

http://ljulianna.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 26, 2006. Of trees, bumps and bruises. Yes, a word to all wise freeze tag players: Beware low hanging tree branches! Yup, as I was playing freeze tag with the kids earlier this week, I mangaged to clip a low lying branch with the top of my head, and did it ever hurt. I had headaches for two days following, a bump on the top of my head, and a messed up neck. I have been so blessed this week to be able to look up and see stars here in the city! Another short and sweet update. Have a lovely...
