Thursday, 17 November 2016. I like change (to a degree). I don't like monotony, doing the same things over and over again with little or no difference in results. So for me, I'm looking forward to the new placement: a new team, a different workload, a different set of skills to learn. It keeps work interesting and keeps me on my toes. Im sitting in on a consultation with a doctor and a patient, trying my best to observe. Thats what Im here to do, just silently watch the situation and hopefully absorb information. There is no other way to describe the feeling, than just pure relief. 4 and a 1/2 years have been leading up to this point. The big one. The mother of all medical exams. Over. I'll not have to do that again. Should I give it to someone else to do it for me? I celebrated by going out for a meal. Twice. I am so thankful and happy about what this means and now, I can start planning for my elective.

Thursday, 24 November 2016. I am acutely aware of how much I whine. Obviously, becoming a doctor was a shock to the system. It wasn't exactly how I imagined it and that's probably everyone's experience when they start their first job as an FY1. I knew it would be stressful, I knew it would mean certain sacrifices.
