Wandering Arlington Texas: Metabolism On A Walker
http://wanderingarlington.blogspot.com/2009/10/metabolism-on-walker.html
And other exotic locales - the Art in Reinvention. Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Metabolism On A Walker. There's a tiny garden across the street from the Arlington Museum of Art that is profuse with Turk's Cap, Frikartii Asters, Salvia and other flowers designed to attract hummingbirds, butterflies and meditative human beings. A little flagstone path veers off from the sidewalk in a semicircle through the vegetation, and joins back up on the other side 20 or 30 feet later. Or this hour or even this minute...

Wandering Arlington Texas: November 2009
http://wanderingarlington.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
And other exotic locales - the Art in Reinvention. Thursday, November 19, 2009. Eating Through The U.S. Presidents. I do find some interesting things. Recently I discovered a whole Swedish branch to my family. I excitedly told a friend about my surprise in finding out that I was part Swedish - he answered by rolling his eyes and asking if I'd looked in a mirror lately (I've been blond all of my life). What did British America or the United States look like back then? What did they eat? George Washington ...

Wandering Arlington Texas: Slam Dancing in a Dirndl
http://wanderingarlington.blogspot.com/2009/10/slam-dancing-in-dirndl.html
And other exotic locales - the Art in Reinvention. Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Slam Dancing in a Dirndl. I envision dirndl and lederhosen clad teenagers slam dancing to the Beer Barrel Polka.I doubtfully eye the flyer that lists the Fall season concert series at the Levitt Pavilion. Brave Combo, playing mosh pit polka favorites. Will be the opening band. I had been looking forward to going to the opening concert. Now I was having second thoughts.but then again, I have to admit, I am. Under blue and viole...

Wandering Arlington Texas: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Bolivia, and my Higher Power
http://wanderingarlington.blogspot.com/2009/11/dallas-cowboys-cheerleaders-bolivia-and.html
And other exotic locales - the Art in Reinvention. Wednesday, November 4, 2009. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Bolivia, and my Higher Power. I might get to see some actual "movie stars". I never did, but I enjoyed stopping by daily on my way home from school hoping to get a glimpse of the actors. When I was fifteen we got tickets to a Cowboys game. It seems. It took me almost thirty years to really learn that God wants me to be who I was created to be. I now enjoy watching the very. They wanted to buy ...

Wandering Arlington Texas: September 2009
http://wanderingarlington.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
And other exotic locales - the Art in Reinvention. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Today we went to the best hippie. Restaurant in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.and it's in Arlington. Potager Cafe (poh-teh-jhay, from the French word potage. Meaning kitchen garden) landed the title in D Magazine. S "The Best of Big D 2009". I had been coming here for several weeks before hearing about the article, so I have to conclude that my inner hippie was drawn to it. It is not a unique concept, but is one that is bec...

Wandering Arlington Texas: Racing Firefighters
http://wanderingarlington.blogspot.com/2009/10/racing-firefighters.html
And other exotic locales - the Art in Reinvention. Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Saturday morning I went head to head in a three mile race against the Arlington city firefighters. I was permitted an advantage as I was allowed to wear shorts, t-shirt and running shoes. The firefighters ran in full gear. I blew in past the finish line over an hour after they did. Wellmaybe it wasn't really head to head.more like along side. And by along side I mean they ran while I walked; I guess strolled. Hope that one day...

And other exotic locales - the Art in Reinvention. Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Just a few minutes drive away from home is America's Best Coffee, a coffeehouse that not only serves coffee and typical coffee house fare, but also hosts evenings of music where local artists perform. It makes me think back to classic Friends. Episodes, where Phoebe Buffay would give her performances at Central Perk. Unlike "Smelly Cat" and "The Hamburger Song" the music at ABC coffee house is actually good. I don't know abou...
