Today I received a notification from WordPress saying “Happy Anniversary with WordPress.com.” Even though I have been neglecting my blog for the last month or so I can’t believe it has been a year since I started my blog in a desperate attempt to come to terms with my year of service in Baltimore and my life. My identity as a woman. November 11, 2016. And so my mom taught me to care for myself and ingrained in me the idea that I should always be able to provide for myself. I have grown up to be very independent. I have for example, been dressing myself since I was a toddler, though my mom loves to tell stories about my issues with matching socks.
