Thursday, January 28, 2016. Alone – part 8 – In Between. Everything is in between. Between Christmas and New Year no one is quite sure what to do. Shops are open, many people have gone back to work, yet many businesses are closed until after New Year. It’s very unsettling. That is how I feel. I am trying to write. I am trying to catalogue books. I am trying to sell books and postcards. I have to make space, I have to dispose of stuff which is really too good to bin. I am trying hard to make decisions.

Friday, January 1, 2016. Alone – part 2 – Nightmare Continues. I have been on my own before, but that was different. Even when he was on Defence Force duty, it was assumed that he would return, in spite of landmines, ambushes and attacks. He has been in hospital before, but it was assumed he would get better and return. He will not return, he is gone, he can only live on in my memory. Nearly 60 years of shared memories, but now there is only me to remember. I shove them into a tall vase. My mind is blank.
