The piece is set in the fenland around the source of the Little Ouse and Waveney rivers on the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk. It takes place over the course of a single day in mid summer. This is a unique new genre of musical performance that has some similarities to Prokofiev’s. Peter and the Wolf. But goes much further with the interaction between narration and music.
