Living Better with Less. Feel good about giving. In a post on. Johsua Becker describes the American gift-giving season this way:. Some gifts will meet legitimate needs. But most gifts during the holiday season are purchased to satisfy wants: another new doll for your daughter, a new video game system for your son, or a K-cup coffee maker for the parents. Worse yet, many of the gifts we give will satisfy neither needs or wants instead, they will only satisfy an obligation. Posted in Environmental footprint.

Living Better with Less. Financial documents keep or toss? Last week I taught a class on simplifying, and a common goal was clearing stacks of papers off the dining room table. Special angst was reserved for “financial documents,” which tend to stick around because they need review and/or filing. Or do they? It quickly became clear that none of us felt completely confident about what documents should be kept and which should be shredded. I’ve added my own version below. Continue reading →. Living Better with Less. Small (and I mean small) ways to extend the life of your devices. Most smart phones, tablets and laptops are designed and marketed to last for about two years. Pause now and imagine billions of mobile phone, iPod and tablet users across the globe dumping their devices on a two-year cycle.). There are, however, small things we can do to extend the life of the lithium-ion batteries. Avoid extreme ambient temperatures, especially those above 95F/35C. Update to the latest software.

Living Better with Less. Financial documents keep or toss? A Twin Cities reuse option for fabric, yarn, textile tools →. When we’re overwhelmed, most of us cope by putting some of our choices on auto-pilot and by making quick decisions on other things. In my experience, it’s incredibly easy to end up in a situation that looks like that of most people around us but doesn’t feel right at all (wait a minute, I never wanted to be a property manager! Living Better with Less. Simplifying is not a trend in home decor. I spent most of the last year living in another country and, as expat families around us packed up to move home at the end of their sabbatical year, I heard the same exclamation many times: “I can’t believe how much stuff we have! 8221; And each time my comment was, “Well, you’ve been. I shared a link to. No matter the interpretation, those of us with time and energy to think about simplifying and make different choices are very fortunate.

May 20, 2015. There are a lot of days where I tend to beat myself up for my past choices. I hate that I do it because I know it really doesn’t do me any good… Lately I’ve been trying to allow myself to accept that there are just some things I cannot do. So what if I went to college to study nursing and couldn’t hack it? That I couldn’t make it work as a Veterinary Technician either? Does that make me a bad person? No Did I just not try hard enough? Maybe Could I have pushed through my anxieties? Address ...

Friday, July 31, 2015. Can't Live Without It: Chip Faced. I am addicted to ice cream. Let me be more specific. I am addicted to mint chocolate gelato. Pure and simple. The combination of mint, chocolate, and smooth churned milk is perfection. I crave this refreshing dessert often. In fact, I crave it all. the. time. I find myself again and again getting chip faced.
