Day by Day: Getting ready to move
http://accordingtothemom.blogspot.com/2015/03/getting-ready-to-move.html
Sunday, March 15, 2015. Getting ready to move. So, we have shifted from an effort to rearrange rooms (see index tab "Room Upset 2014"), to preparing to move. Here are some highlights, starting with those relating to the Room Upset:. Our poor youngest girls were finally moved into their own room. Or at least their own beds. Clara and Sophie still had several piles and bins of things to remove from when they shared that room. But at least the girls had their own beds for the first time in months. Joe's par...

Day by Day: July 2014

Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Chicken Thighs roasted with garden herbs and Skillet curried sweet potatoes. I thought the fresh vegies and herbs were to pretty on these chicken thighs I roasted the other day. It looked just as cool when I took it out of the oven, and tasted great, too. But we were all so hungry I forgot to take a second picture. And it tasted great, too, served along side sweet potatoes and last summer's canned green beans. I drizzled some lard. I covered them with salt and pepper. I stirred ...

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Just a very quick snip of sentimentality in the midst of a day of catching up on laundry. In the process of getting our whole household sorted and packed up to move, I find it increasingly hard to keep up with the regular stuff. Besides that, the pile of "not sure where to put this" stuff is growing exponentially. Besides that, my couch had been, until the last hour or so, heaped high with clean laundry, some folded, some not. Something that is perhaps unique to a pastor's fami...

Day by Day: August 2014
http://accordingtothemom.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 22, 2014. It's been a rough week. And busy. We've had two girls leave for college: Sad. Teen car troubles: Frustrating. More teen car troubles: Frustrated and angry teen. A trip to Fargo: Tired mom. A member passing away, to make the second week in a row with a death in the parish: Tired Pastor. We hope to get to see Elsie and where she's living, and meet part of the couple she's living with. We'll hopefully get to see Jeremy and perhaps eat lunch at Five Guys where he works. Oh, Beth, we ...

Saturday, November 29, 2014. You might be a Northern Minnesotan if, . Your big Black Friday shopping adventure is waiting in line at Cabela's . At 8 °F. In an ice fishing house! Louisa and her good friend, Whitney chose to spend their Thanksgiving night that way with a group of friends. There were only two people before them, so they got $50 gift cards for being among the first 25 patrons in line. They ran into Caleb L., who was with a group further back. Louisa, Whitney, and Shawn. What's on the counter?

Saturday, May 2, 2015. Every once in awhile, . Every once in awhile I am hit with one of those moments. One of those moments when I see the concrete results of what Joe and I are trying to do with our kids. And every once in awhile, when those moments hit, my emotions run amok. Happy my child is resilient. Sad I can't do more. Pleased our parenting seems to be paying off. Frustrated that life is sometimes so hard. It's a hard world. But as every parent can attest, sometimes I just really wish I could fix...

Day by Day: A little hand written pick-me-up
http://accordingtothemom.blogspot.com/2015/04/a-little-hand-written-pick-me-up.html
Tuesday, April 7, 2015. A little hand written pick-me-up. And my readers were my friends. Too, leaving comments or e-mailing me about one or another post. Occasionally, one or another with more "old fashioned" social skills would actually pop me a letter in the mail. I found yesterday I was blue in a different kind of way to think that I won't be able to write about this community, changes in the seasons, little nothings in our life here, for much longer. It made me sad that this dear reader will hea...

Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Images of Autumn: Costumes. Sophie and Clara all dressed up for the Halloween dance at school. Whatever you do, don't turn around! Zip your lips, girl! Images of Autumn: Harvest Time. Joe digs, the girls find the treasures. What do we have here? Donna shows us one of the teeny-tinies. Stella shows off three nice ones. Inge displays one of the larger potatoes. Not a great harvest, but it will make a few meals anyway. I boiled up the tiny ones for supper that night. He did try to...
