Target date funds explained | The Money Savvy Blog
http://themoneysavvyblog.com/2015/08/11/target-date-funds-explained
The Money Savvy Blog. Target date funds explained. August 11, 2015. This financial product has been growing in popularity, but what is a target date fund? Target funds are also known as “fund of funds” because they are usually made of other mutual funds or ETFs from the institution selling it. Just like all other financial products, it has its pros and cons. Convenience: when investing in a target fund, you don’t have to manage it or figure out re-balancing. Lots of research: you will usually have to do ...

The Money Savvy Blog. A lot of PF bloggers love writing about their goals . I personally prefer talking about plans instead. I think plans are more flexible than goals. I like flexibility, and don’t necessarily like the pass or fail aspect of goals. So here are my plans for this year:. Save 5K to be divided between my RRSP and regular savings. Done and exceeded! Have 10K to my name. If the above point is completed, I should exceed this number. Done and exceeded! That feels really good. Pingback: Where my...
Strata myths debunked | The Money Savvy Blog
http://themoneysavvyblog.com/2015/07/28/strata-myths-debunked
The Money Savvy Blog. July 28, 2015. As both a condo owner and council member, I have learnt a lot on strata living over the last couple of years. I noticed people definitely have some misconceptions about condo living. Some of them could be very costly! The strata’s insurance covers everything. Strata will fix everything. This is very unlikely. Both owner and strata responsibilities are spelled out in the by-laws. Check them! It is my unit and I can do whatever I want to. Have you checked the by-laws?

The Money Savvy Blog. September 21, 2016. It has been over a month since my last entry. My life has been crazy-busy this year and I really needed a break. I took time-off work and I also had family visiting, which was exactly what I needed. I realized I also needed a break from my daily routine. I am definitely more settled in my condo and new city. I enjoy living there and I know I made the right move by selling my previous condo. For a variable rate mortgage, the penalty will always be 3-month interest...

Et si c’était à refaire ? – Le blog des Gaous
https://lesgaousatoronto.wordpress.com/2015/06/18/et-si-cetait-a-refaire
Le blog des Gaous. Made in Africa living ailleurs. Qui sont les Gaous? L’arbre à palabres. Et si c’était à refaire? Et si c’était à refaire? Bull; ( 20.
Mutual fund investing, what I would do differently today - Tawcan
http://www.tawcan.com/mutual-fund-investing-what-i-would-do-differently-today
Mutual fund investing, what I would do differently today. Posted on July 13, 2015. Through work we have the option of enrolling in a non-registered savings plan where certain percentage of my pay cheque is deducted to purchase mutual funds in a non-registered account. When I was eligible for this program I immediately signed up. The returns of these funds are great, the MER is about 2 - 2.5%. I can’t lose money on these investments! And I wanted desperately to move up to the next stage of competence.
Budgeting for Real Life - The Wallet Diet
http://www.thewalletdiet.com/budgeting-for-real-life
Budgeting for Real Life. I don’t have a budget in the traditional sense that I bucket set amounts for different categories. I’ve tried that route before and it was not for me. My idea of budgeting is to have one big retainer every month for all of my discretionary spending. And pay for everything out of that one lump sum. Whether it’s clothing, a gift, or going out for dinner, all of my disposable income comes out of this retainer. Are you strict with your budget? August 5, 2015. You Might Also Like.

Your money or your life. This is the title of a book I’ve been reading. I think it’s a great phrase, as it captures what for many of us can become a lifetime struggle. Live your life. Don't buy your lifestyle. Shopping Bans Aren’t for Me. August 5, 2015. Shopping bans are helpful to a lot of people, but they aren’t for me. I won’t be hopping on the shopping ban bandwagon anytime soon. Because I like spending my money. A desk for my office (My current desk is a Kijiji free offer and is literally falling apart, remember I work at it eight hours a day). A hair cut (Coming up on a year since my last one). A set of sheets for my bed. A shopping ban isn’t for me, but t...

We are hoping to be able to raise some money by subdividing our two acre block. The costs to do this are high, but we could generate a profit of about $100,000. Then we started talking about how we might be able to travel full time. I’m determined to use up all my fabrics and make some money selling the things...
