I’ve already rented an apartment with roommates, opened a bank account, gotten a Spanish phone, applied for my residence card and started my new job. October 21, 2013. While I’m on the topic of my living situation, I’ma take a minute to write about my compañeros de piso. I’m sharing a three bedroom apartment with two other Americans, Audrey and Steve. Segundo, there’s Steve, or Esteve as the Spaniards say. He’s from Arizona. We met online, and he once ate a lizard for $43. He’s working here as an auxiliary too. He got to Ourense two days after Audrey and I arrived and was looking for housing, so we scooped him up. Me, Audrey, some hobo, and Steve.

My Goons →. October 21, 2013. Now seems like a good enough time as ever to write about where I’m living. Okay, I’m living in Ourense, Spain, which is in the region of Galicia. The auxiliar program assigns locations basically at random to participants, so when I saw that I received a placement in Galicia, I was a little hesitant. Laying out on some river rocks.
