Man's Journey To Clarity, Simplicity, and Purpose. A Man's Journey To Clarity, Simplicity, and Purpose. Join Him. Posted by Andy Fogarty. Friend Him on Facebook. I was reading a quick little ebook, a couple of weeks ago, called the Hero Handbook by Nate Green. A client had forwarded it to me after I mentioned the Die The Hero project. At the end of one our calls. I read it the next morning in about an hour. One of my favorite sections was titled Avoid The Living-Impaired. From the Hero Handbook:. That...

DB strength and conditioning. Making the world a leaner / stronger place. Thursday, May 9, 2013. It's been a while. I haven't "blogged" in quite some time, but that doesn't mean there hasn't been some interesting stuff going on in my little world. I've learned a lot about what it takes to be successful in the strength and conditioning field, debunked some common myths in nutrition, and have really achieved overall happiness in my profession and personal life. Left my job at Emery Wellness Center. Over th...

DB strength and conditioning. Making the world a leaner / stronger place. Tuesday, February 7, 2012. What Is "Right" About Crossfit. I am not a "Crossfitter". I have never participated in a Crossfit training session, nor have I attempted a "W.O.D" (workout of the day). You'll never hear me talking about my time completing "FRAN". Before beginning the beloved W.O.D. Mr Greg Glassman - creator of Crossfit and one of the "most controversial individuals in fitness". Is Crossfit really that bad? Workout. ...

DB strength and conditioning. Making the world a leaner / stronger place. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. Time to move forward. Just an fyi, you can't out-train a crappy diet! I forgot who originally said that, but I had a fun time trying to prove them wrong. On with the real message of this post- keeping it simple in and out of the gym. I got this idea from a livespill on T-nation.com. Here's what it looks like:. Squat - 4 sets of 5 (medium weight). Dumbbell Row 4 sets of 8-12.

DB strength & conditioning: Soreness Doesn't = Effectiveness
http://dbstrength.blogspot.com/2012/07/soreness-doesnt-effectiveness.html
DB strength and conditioning. Making the world a leaner / stronger place. Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Soreness Doesn't = Effectiveness. The statement "I'm sooooo sore, I had such an awesome. Workout", is definitely used wayyyyyy too much when describing what some people feel is an effective training session. As a client, being sore should not be the number one goal of a training session. Workout, you really need to evaluate your contribution to improving peoples overall health and well being. There are act...

DB strength and conditioning. Making the world a leaner / stronger place. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Crappy Trainer Techniques - A series. Over the past few weeks I've been contemplating writing some non-politically correct blog posts about some stuff I see in the gym that would earn a "Suck Status" for a personal trainer. I really didn't want to "rant" but the more stupid stuff I see going on at the gym, the harder it is for me to keep my filter shut. When I first started personal training the Internet wasn...

DB strength and conditioning. Making the world a leaner / stronger place. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Crappy Trainer Techniques - Part 2. Man, I freakin' hate hearing that in the gym. It's one thing when 2 dudes wearing wife beaters are doing a bench press / curl combo (You know, when one dude is benching and the other is basically curling up the weight and chanting "It's all you"). It's a whole different form of AWFUL. When you see a trainer performing the " all you. Technique with their client. If you're ...

DB strength and conditioning. Making the world a leaner / stronger place. Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Make "Rocks" A Priority In Your Training Programs. A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items on the table in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a large, empty jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2" in diameter. As far as training goes, I think of my "rocks" as being the focus of each training session. Of course, for each client the individual nee...
