We walked in a large rectangle for several blocks around the museum. We saw some interesting architecture,. Some leftover snow from the Christmas snowfall,. And passed through Chinatown. It's been years since we had that much snow here. Metu and I enjoyed some sledding. Travis built a snowman and named it "Kyle". Travis did more sledding than I did. The Nature of Things 2010. Ramblings about my world. Friday, January 15, 2010. The Jefferson Memorial- At night. After supper, T wanted to get pictures of the Jefferson Memorial at night, so we drove over there. Even though it was quite cold, there were lots of people there. We were there for a Ranger tour- wished later we'd skipped. He was very enthusiastic about what an inconsistent man Jefferson was and waxed long on that subject. We enjoyed the building, the monument and the city lights.

Tuesday morning, we parked in the free parking lot near the Jefferson Memorial and hopped a Tourmobile bus- bought a two day pass. We could get on or off at any of their bus stops- buses stopped every 25 minutes or so. Our first stop of the day was Arlington National Cemetery. This is the courtyard- at one time it was open air, but now has an enormous skylight roof. We hooked in with a tour and went on all three levels for about 2 hours.
