The Charis Life Church Blog. Tony Blair: I Do God! April 16, 2008 at 10:08 am. Last week, Tony Blair launched his Faith Foundation with a lecture given at Westminster Cathedral titled, ‘Faith and Globalisation’. His appeal: to reassert the importance of faith in life and culture. “. Religious faith is a good thing in itself,”. 8220;that so far from being a reactionary force, it has a major part to play in shaping the values which guide the modern world, and can be a force for progress.”. It appears that ...

Gratitude | The Charis Life Church Blog

The Charis Life Church Blog. July 11, 2008 at 12:15 pm. Good words can take us to places that otherwise remain off limits. And rather like the skier who needs to gain confidence before going off piste, as we grow in our understanding of language, our insight increases and we begin to see words not simply for their power, but also their depth. One good example of such a word is gratitude. Entry filed under: The Way I See It. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

The Charis Life Church Blog. Archive for December, 2007. Tea Towels, Snow Patrol and Together for Christmas. What is it about Christmas? I don’t mean the hype and the tripe – I mean what is about Christmas that sustains the magic it casts over us? Take last night for example. I attended my daughters Christmas play for the Rainbows, Brownies and Girl Guides. Some of the little ones were dressed wearing the humble tea towel round their heads. How many times have we all seen that over the years? Dear Name, ...

Why Pray? | The Charis Life Church Blog
https://charislifechurch.wordpress.com/2008/01/21/why-pray
The Charis Life Church Blog. January 21, 2008 at 5:00 pm. Yesterday, the theme for the sermon was prayer. “Is anyone in trouble,” wrote James, “he should pray.” It’s a good start. In fact, statistics tell us that up to 40% of us pray. Of those 16% pray daily and 25% weekly. Apparently there is a lot of praying taking place! Does it make the sincerity of my prayer either futile or foolish? Or is something else happening in that situation? Come Be My Light. Where she repeatedly expressed the most excruciat...

The Charis Life Church Blog. Archive for March, 2008. The Resurrection – A Post Holiday Reflection. Well, each to their own but for me Lewis’ analogy teaches something deeper. The light does not remove what the darkness hides; it simply shows it for what it is. It brings a different perspective. And it’s that perspective which positions you to think and live differently. The Charis Life Church Blog. March 10, 2008 at 5:04 pm. 8216;He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.’ wrote the apostle Paul in a mind blazing glimpse of genius. He was writing about Jesus of course, and used part of his letter to Colosse to underline His centrality to life. And it was the issue of centrality that became the theme of our final session for Lent. From these verses you get the feeling that it’s all about Jesus! What dignity, what courage…. what grace. The Charis Life Church Blog. Archive for January, 2008. Meanwhile in Europe, Jerome Kerviel has just been arrested for loosing his bank, Societe Generale, 3.7 billion in a wager that didn’t pay off. It’s said that for every percent drop on the Markets he was loosing the bank around 400 million. Adversely, Societe Generale’s loss was somebody or bodies gain. I guess what goes round, comes round. Money per sae has little worth if it can’t be traded for something that really matters, but then can what...

Fowl Play? | The Charis Life Church Blog

The Charis Life Church Blog. January 13, 2008 at 7:23 pm. This week, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Jamie Oliver have been doing their bit for chickens. We eat over 850 million of them each year in the UK and now their plight is being brought to the attention of the nation as two of our famous chefs come to the rescue. I like my chicken so ought I to care how it arrives on my plate, or simply look for the best bargain when out shopping? Now that’s diversity for you – or is it? The Gate of the Year.
