Joyful Noise: September 2005
http://joyful-noise.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 23, 2005. You can listen to Keewaydin here. I can still sing this entire thing from memory, without looking at the music. I wonder how much of my brain is filled with music? I know the words and music to probably hundreds of choral works, not to mention art songs and arias. I used to know entire operas. Posted by deadpan @ 5:26 PM. Monday, September 19, 2005. And in my drugged-up state the movie raised some interesting questions. How much of one's personality comes from one's appearance?

Area-Man: Innocent until proven guilty
http://area-man.blogspot.com/2007/07/innocent-until-proven-guilty.html
Comment-link {margin-left:.6em;}. Monday, July 23, 2007. Innocent until proven guilty. Featured on a major network news broadcast today, was the death of an 11-year-old boy, Ephraim Brown. The boy was killed by a stray bullet fired in an inter-gang show-down in Toronto. Police arrested a man who will be charged with the boy's murder. I do not remember the name of this man, but I recall that the news that was read from the teleprompter contained this remark:. Or was the motivation less altruistic? To say ...

We halt annual consumption of 45,000,000,000 units of product "A". We begin annual consumption of 45,000,000,000 units of product "Green". Posted by karlomac @ 11:44 PM. Links to this post:. Area-Man: BL baffles brains
http://area-man.blogspot.com/2006/03/bl-baffles-brains.html
Comment-link {margin-left:.6em;}. Sunday, March 19, 2006. Danone is running a TV ad for its new yogurt called Activia. The commercial features a husband and wife (both about 40 years of age) doing what appears to be some type of mating dance in their kitchen while eating yogurt lustfully. The announcer tells me that this yogurt is the only one on the market to contain the probiotic culture BL and like the dancing old-people, I should take the Activia 14-day challenge and feel the difference . Now if you’...

Joyful Noise: August 2005
http://joyful-noise.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 29, 2005. I awoke smelling like hickory, my limbs splayed unnaturally and my mouth feeling thick. This was not the aftermath of a XXX-rated evening but the glory of Ark-B-Q. The BBQ pit was dug in a fit of ambition, inspired by Rock Jesus but toiled over by the Boyz. The superheros of tarpaulin provided cover from precipitous onslaught and the roasting of flesh commenced. We sang to keep ourselves awake on the highway and arrived safely home. Comment-link {margin-left:.6em;}. Monday, April 17, 2006. It's the end of the world as we know it. From a recent thread on sci.math. A 2-b 2 = ab-b 2. A b)(a-b) = b(a-b). Orwell came close, but it seems that 2 2= 3, not 5. Posted by karlomac @ 3:41 PM. Links to this post. Friday, April 14, 2006. Area-Man: Dirty Dictionary or Prude Processor?
http://area-man.blogspot.com/2006/04/dirty-dictionary-or-prude-processor.html
Comment-link {margin-left:.6em;}. Wednesday, April 12, 2006. Dirty Dictionary or Prude Processor? First things first: Some people have told me that comments weren't enabled properly on this blog. I think I have fixed this. While frustrated with studying, I decided to vent by typing a string of curse words into a document that I was working on in MS Word. Of particular note were the words "fuck" and "shit". So "fuck" and "shit" pass the spell check feature? Not quite, depending on how you look at it.

Saturday, June 25, 2005. Gosh, I know it has been forever since my last post. And you'll have to wait a bit longer I'm afraid, as I'm in the home of the brave and the land of the free until Sunday. I'll update you all on the great time I'm having in Chicago when I return. PS I'd love more feedback on my last post. I know a lot of people have read it, but declined to post a rating. Comment-link {margin-left:.6em;}. Tuesday, March 22, 2005. Braille signs will lead the way (if you can find them)! Every once in a while, I see a sign written in braille. Most of the time, such signs make me shake my head in disbelief. Can blind people really count on finding such signs? What happens if someone skims their fingers at the wrong height, missing the sign completely? Would that qualify as height discrimination against the blind? If that weren't bad enough, what if the sign WERE in braille an...
