My Grandmother’s Gifts. 06/14/2011, 2:35 pm. This salt and pepper set may be one of my most prized possessions:. It lives in my house, but it really belongs to my grandmother, who, at almost 86 years old, is still totally badass. This set or more specifically, the salt pot in the middle, with the tiny spoon has sat on my grandmother’s dark wood dining room table for as long as I can remember. During the summers my family travelled to India, I used it daily, usually to spoon. Just a little more. This one ...

The yolk was perfectly soft but not too runny, and I sprinkled salt and pepper on every bite I took. Mark joined me, and we didn’t talk much, just sat in the sun and ate. It was one of the most enjoyable meals I’ve had of late. Also very enjoyable was the coconut lentil soup. The biggest news around here has been that we took the plunge and bought a minivan! The pr...

04/07/2012, 12:42 pm. Filed under: everyday life. So Somehow I went nine and a half months without writing. There are many reasons for this, but since I have no one to be accountable to, I won’t delve into them. Mostly, we were travelling. Actually, that seems like a reason to write more, but we used our other blog. Wait, there’s that pity party again. What I want to say, what I’m. 2 Comments so far. Keep writing, I’ll keep reading🙂 love you. 04/08/2012 @ 9:22 pm. Amy told me you updated this blog too!

04/05/2011, 1:09 pm. Filed under: everyday life. In my most fantastical daydreams, I imagine a life where I can split my time between making quilts and baking pies. I know this is terribly retro and 19th-century housewifey of me, but it’s the truth. I am not especially good at either of these things — not yet, at least — but there it is. That is what I love. I’ll expound on my quilting ideas another day (what’s that? You’re waiting with baited breath? 8212; if it’s just for you. Leave a Comment so far.

Why, yes, that. Gouda-flavoured, to be precise. I found it at T&T Supermarket in Vancouver, and am still undecided on whether I found it irresistible or appalling. Perhaps both. Life is moving at a. But I’ll write more about that over at the website. Red makes everything beautiful. And you wear CK Be. 1 Comment so far.

Four years in the making. 03/10/2011, 9:38 pm. Getting into a complete stranger’s car. My point is, this is something Mark and I have been talking about for almost four years now, since shortly after we started dating. The itinerary has changed a lot, and is continually evolving, but so far is as follows:. Pack up and rent out house, buy and camperize minivan, then begin 4-5 month road trip around North America. Eat a lot of pie. Possibly jaunt down to New Zealand so that we can rent a car and drive arou...

Sands of Zanzibar: My Mother's Things.

Wednesday, May 27, 2015. But anyhow, I have almost a dozen pairs of her shoes, some brand new, that don't even fit me. I couldn't get rid of them before because they seemed so much a part of her. (Plus they are super expensive) She loved to walk and explore her surroundings and I couldn't bear to have someone else's feet in her shoes, walking through dirt and dust and not. And the loafers, can't forget the loafers. No, just a tiny shopping list that sort of broke my heart. A dinner never made. Http:/ cin...
