A Blog for all my university stuff. Thursday, February 23, 2006. Trackmania Predecessors - Part 2. Ok, so we’ve looked at the most direct predecessor to Trackmania:. In part one, now its time to take a look at some other games that were crucial to the development of this game. We will do this by looking in more detail at the games mentioned in the Trackmania Sunrise Mechanics blog entry in more detail. Was a wholly owned subsidiary of Atari. And the majority of their output was clones of Atari. Is a cruc...

A Blog for all my university stuff. Friday, January 20, 2006. This game was the first of Squaresoft’s Final Fantasy series to gain a UK release and it certainly didn’t disappoint. It was released on the Sony Playstation and at various points was both the consoles fastest selling game and biggest seller. Anyone who sits down and plays will be able to see that it really is that damned good and was the RPG to own on the Playstation. Posted by Stephen Noble at 5:28 AM. Friday, January 13, 2006. A Blog for all my university stuff. Thursday, December 15, 2005. Aerial Antics - 52 Words. Aerial Antics is a game based solely on flying around in a jetpack, usually with the aim of getting from one platform to another. Unfortunately the act of flying around, something key to the game, is too awkward and the steering is too vague and imprecise for this game to be enjoyable. Posted by Stephen Noble at 8:31 PM. Friday, December 09, 2005. For the assignment of Meta reviewing. I used reviews from. Franchise...

A Blog for all my university stuff. Thursday, October 27, 2005. My game of 2005 - Trackmania Sunrise. Trackmania: Sunrise is the follow up to the sleeper hit Trackmania, from Digital Jesters. Boasting new game modes and more insane tracks then the original can TM: Sunrise improve on the originals winning formula? Overall TM: Sunrise really is excellent. The games difficulty is pitched perfectly meaning you can dive straight in and have fun, but it will take a considerable amount of skill to complete ...

A Blog for all my university stuff. Thursday, May 18, 2006. At first impression, I thought that the Games History and Context module was going to be little more then a rehash of the Games Reviewing module that we studied in semester one. However it quickly became apparent that the two modules were sufficiently different and ultimately not really alike at all. Games Reviewing was more English language based whereas GHAC goes, I feel, more in depth about the games themselves. Thursday, May 11, 2006. The Ma...

A Blog for all my university stuff. Tuesday, November 14, 2006. I have failed in my efforts to accomplish this weeks task, to create an actor class which acts as a sort of landmine, making a sound and hurting the player when they move into it. I am sure that some people will have easily managed to get this work done but I just couldn't get to grips with it, I felt overwhelmed by UDE and not sure where to start with it. Posted by Stephen Noble at 12:44 AM. Friday, November 03, 2006. So then basically the ...
