Sunday, 26 May 2013. 3D Nationals Shoot Report 25th and 26th May 2013. It was the late May bank holiday weekend and time for the 2013 NFAS 3D Nationals and having shot last week at Fleet Ibex. And lost / broken three arrows I was hoping for a less destructive two days. With the weather looking to be totally the opposite of last years 3Ds it was looking as though it would be a cracking weekend at Osmaston Park. Near Ashbourne, a wonderful drive down the A515 from my parents. With the dinosaur out of the w...

Sunday, 7 July 2013. Okay this is not the typical blog entry for this site but on this historic day in 2013 when Sir Andy Murray (okay not yet Sir but by this time next year! Became the first Brit to win Wimbledon for 77 years I had decided to do something far more entertaining that watch a ball go back and forth. Once we had practised around the short circuit it was time for some figure 8 and donut driving best shown before time for lunch and the morning only people to pack up. Figure of 8 and donut.

The Crooked Stick: Druids Shoot Report 19th February 2012
http://thecrookedstick.blogspot.com/2012/02/having-had-short-break-from-shooting-in.html
Sunday, 19 February 2012. Druids Shoot Report 19th February 2012. Having had a short break from shooting, in all forms, today I would be doing something that I haven't done for a while and that was shooting at a new club and hence a new course. I have been meaning to shoot Druids for quite sometime but other commitments always managed to get in the way and so I was looking forward to shooting this highly recommended course. At least it's a 16. So after a thoroughly enjoyable days shooting with a great gr...

The Crooked Stick: Making my own Longbow
http://thecrookedstick.blogspot.com/2012/09/making-my-own-longbow.html
Sunday, 9 September 2012. Making my own Longbow. In Cannock. One great advantage with Lee's courses are that he does not restrict you to specific dates rather you can simply phone him and arrange dates to fit. So having travelled up on a Wednesday evening and stayed over at the local Cottage B&B. With a quick lesson on how to make a double loop flemish string it was time to have a go myself and so having picked a couple of colours I made my first bow string, using fast flight material, and then fitted it...

Sunday, 16 September 2012. Nationals Shoot Report 15th and 16th September 2012. Having not shot since the Druids Summer Solstice shoot this years Nationals were going to be rather interesting and the aim of the weekend was to come away with as many arrows as I arrived. This years Nationals were going to be held at Arley Hall. This was going to be the trend for the day the South Cheshire course layers had used the woods and terrain extremely well and what looked like easy shots were not. Most were cov...

The Crooked Stick: Raven Shoot Report 14th April 2013
http://thecrookedstick.blogspot.com/2013/04/raven-shoot-report-14th-april-2013.html
Sunday, 14 April 2013. Raven Shoot Report 14th April 2013. So this being only my second shoot since last years Nationals it was off to Raven for a round of 36 3Ds in their rather hilly woodland. With the weather having been wet for the last few days I was expecting a rather stick and muddy shoot but at least it would be warm and no chance of frostbite unlike the Fleet Ibex. With the deer dead it was time to head across the bottom of the valley and shoot the White Goat, this was probably the second longes...
