Reflections of a Theology Geek: Talking Death Penalty...

http://theologygeek.blogspot.com/2015/04/talking-death-penalty.html

Monday, April 20, 2015. There has been a lot of talk on the cable news stations this week about the death penalty. This is. Primarily because of the trial of the Boston bombers. In listening to the banter, I noticed that the general public takes a very different approach to the death penalty than the Catholic Church does. In short, the public looks at the death penalty as a form of punishment, while the Church looks at it as a form of self defense. Should receive the death penalty? The Church does not ex...

beautiful thorns: March 2015

http://www.beautifulthorns.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 27, 2015. Behind the Name, Beautiful Thorns. Years ago I went through a severe trial and very intense spiritual warfare. After that happened, I cried out to the Lord and told him, "I just want a normal, leisurely life"! Well, he heard my prayer and he left me alone for the next 6 years. Needless to say, I was miserable! There were no spiritual consolations; I did not sense or hear from the Lord at all during that time. The worst part about it though was my passion towards him was gone!

Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Roller Coasters, Puppies, and Learning to Fly! The past eleven days has been a real roller coaster ride! I am not a big fan of roller coasters, either at amusement parks or in real life! They make me nauseous and I'm not a fan of the thrill. Sometimes however the trials of life that feel like roller coaster rides can help us grow the most in faith. Hopefully the story I am about to tell will produce growth in me. After-all, the Lord can use anything (Romans 8:28)! The younger...

beautiful thorns: May 2015

http://www.beautifulthorns.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 30, 2015. After all, shouldn't we be doing spiritual acts out of love for God and not just to gain an indulgence? This year, the topic of indulgences has come up multiple times among Protestants I know, who are considering Catholicism. Also, a group I belong to at my church had a discussion about indulgences recently. These things have provided an opportunity for me to look into the topic more closely. The spirit of this age is pervasive! The good news however is there is another way! You a...

Blog Schmog: I'm considering...

http://lifeandlaughskmm.blogspot.com/2011/07/im-considering.html

I have a lot to say, and I've been searching for such an opportunity as this to let the world in on all my ponderings. Thursday, July 21, 2011. To homeschool or not to homeschool.that is the question. So many benefits on both sides. Guess that's why it's so hard. I get excited about the concept of more time as a family. More time to dive into God's word and pray as a family and serve as Jesus calls us to. So, I think we might homeschool. Possibly. Maybe. It's being considered. July 24, 2011 at 12:16 PM.

I have a lot to say, and I've been searching for such an opportunity as this to let the world in on all my ponderings. Thursday, March 17, 2011. Where to catch a nap. This goes out to all you busy moms (or dads I guess) out there who hit the ground running each day and don't stop until your head hits the pillow at night. Just how do we fit in a little peace and quiet? When can we get 20 minutes of shut-eye in our day? So there I sat, in a somewhat comfortable over-sized. So, the moral of the story is - m...

I have a lot to say, and I've been searching for such an opportunity as this to let the world in on all my ponderings. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Remembering my dad today. It was two years ago that God freed him from his suffering and took him home. I wish death wasn't so hard. I wish God's plan was that entire families and their friends could all go at the same time so it wouldn't hurt so much. That's the hard part about death - missing them. Sorry love, there's no way to explain it. Sometimes I wish he...

http://lifeandlaughskmm.blogspot.com/2011/09/week-one-verdict.html

I have a lot to say, and I've been searching for such an opportunity as this to let the world in on all my ponderings. Sunday, September 4, 2011. The results are in: we survived our first week of home school. It's kind of like figuring out how to eat, grocery shop, or even use the bathroom when your newborn is requiring every bit of your attention with crying, nursing, or pooping. These are the moments when I stop and think, "This is a lot of work.". We have had some fun, I have to say! Adjusting to anyt...

Theology Girl

Sunday, February 23, 2014. See me gush over beautiful books here. Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Overthinking Children's Television. Again. Do children’s shows nowadays take place mostly in horrible, post-apocalyptic worlds? It’s not a new trend, but one that is growing. I first noticed this when my daughter took an interest in old Teletubbie videos on YouTube. The Tubbies lead a seemingly idyllic existence, but something sinister lurks beneath the surface like so many Thomas Kinkade paintings. But they are ...
