Monday, July 13, 2015. We started with a visit to the Tillamook Cheese Factory for an appetizer of cheese curds before slamming some clam chowder and oyster shooters at the seafood market across the street. The rest of the week was spent on the beaches North and South, in the restaurants of the small coastal towns, and in our hot tub. Bracing against the wind outside our hotel room in Rockaway Beach. Monday, January 19, 2015. We kicked off our first morning with a (camera-less) run in the expansive Stanley Park. We started on the perimeter of the park along the sea wall. This path has clearly divided lanes for pedestrians and bikes and the bike lane is unidirectional so bikers aren't risking head-on collisions around the many blind corners - way to go city planners! Monday, August 11, 2014. Mount St. Helens mountain biking. Oh boy, did we get ambitious with this one. We set out to go 'bamping' which is the really creative. Nickname we have adopted for backpacking/camping trips on mountain bikes. The plan. A hike, or just. A ride, but with those packs and the heat it was a slog. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. In February we took a sibling trip to the sunny, happy, wonderful central coast of CA to visit the youngest sis in SLO. We hiked the coastline, bombed down sand dunes, wandered through town, soaked in the hot springs, dodged cooties in the dorms, and reminisced in the halls and rooftops of our alma mater. That place makes my heart sing. I am so. Glad we have an excuse to visit again. Bougainvillea on the patio at Linnaea's. Used hops and grains behind SLO Brew. Carl and Tory Bauer.

Sunday, July 21, 2013. We arrived in Cologne (my final destination with the family) with enough time to hit the major highlights. Early the next morning I was to catch a train to Brussels for my flight home, and they were headed on to Amsterdam. Thursday, December 13, 2012. Boat ride back to Bolungarvik. Drive South toward Reykjavik. See the sights in the Golden Circle. Monday, May 18, 2015. Earlier this Spring we did a quick hike up Elk Mountain in the Tillamook State Forest ( here. There are two longer loops in this area, but after getting a late start we only had time for this out-and-back portion. Elk Mountain summit is at 2,788 feet and while it's a short hike, it is pretty dang. Strenuous - you have to ascend 1900 feet over only 1.5 miles, which feels like more of a scramble at times. The first steps foreshadowing what lies ahead. First lookout on a beautiful day.
