Thursday, March 20, 2014. Miserere Mei, Deus - Gregorio Allegri. Operas & Classicals: The Prayer - David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis

http://theoperaticbaritone.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-prayer-foster-sager-testa-and-renis.html

Wednesday, March 19, 2014. The Prayer - David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis. The Prayer, hailed as one of the most popular contemporary classical pop duet of the 21st century was written by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis. Originally written in F major (high Bb for male vocals), a soprano and tenor is recommended due to the high notes involved, especially for the male. Operas & Classicals: December 2007

http://theoperaticbaritone.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 31, 2007. Pour Mon Ame - Domenico Gaetano Maria Donizetti. This french aria is from Gaetano Donizetti's opera "La Fille du Régiment" (The Daughter of the Regiment) and it is one true aria which distinguishes the tenors from the baritones. With the amazing C5, it truly challenges the ability of the tenor to maintain the quality while conquering the note. Of course, the easiest way out of this would be the usage of Falsetto but that would drastically reduce its worth.

Operas & Classicals: Vogliatemi Bene - Giacomo Puccini

http://theoperaticbaritone.blogspot.com/2007/10/vogliatemi-bene.html

Thursday, October 11, 2007. Vogliatemi Bene - Giacomo Puccini. One of the most famous aria from Puccini's opera - Madame Butterfly. It's one aria no one would and should ever miss! Its has the sad, lovely feeling if you do follow the sequence of the Madame Butterfly which of course isn't surprising since Vogliatemi Bene means "Love Me". If you have any feedback, feel free to contact me at crankyvox@gmail.com. Domenico Gaetano Maria Donizetti. O Mio Babbino Caro - Giacomo Puccini.

Operas & Classicals: Tu Ch'hai Le Penne Amore - Giulio Caccini

http://theoperaticbaritone.blogspot.com/2007/10/tu-chhai-le-penne-amore-composed-by.html

Wednesday, October 10, 2007. Tu Ch'hai Le Penne Amore - Giulio Caccini. This is a very sweet composition by Caccini among all his wonderful works like Amarilli, Mia Bella etc. It is an aria from Caccini's first opera, Euridice and it means "Oh Love, You Who Have Wings" and somehow after hearing the aria many times, I notice the introduction bears some mysterious-like feeling like those of Harry Potter. Isn't it cool? Just a random thought only, no offence with the resemblance. Ave Maria - Giulio Caccini.

The Operatic Underbelly | Exploring and discovering what keeps this timeworn art ticking and thriving in the modern world.

May 13, 2015. Musicals at the Opera: Blasphemy or Brilliance? It is a sad truth that today’s opera houses are scrambling to keep their seats filled. New York City Opera closed its doors in 2013 after 70 years. The Met reported. That it only sold 69% of its house capacity for the same year. Because of this drastic dip in box office sales, opera houses the world over have began reevaluate how they do business, and brainstorm ideas to entice more patrons. Oklahoma, Carousel, The King and I, South Pacific,.

The operatic view – Yehuda Shapiro: Thoughts on opera and life in general

Yehuda Shapiro: Thoughts on opera and life in general. Show me why I should save English National Opera. Save English National Opera’. That suitably dramatic call to action heads a current petition on change.org. Spearheaded by people who work in opera, it protests against cuts proposed by the management of English National Opera (ENO). All well and good, but I wish someone could tell me what ENO’s goals really are. If you are a public-facing and publicly-funded organisation, perhaps the public deserves ...
