Bespoke carpentry in Devon. Plates in a Crate! Customer commissioned me to construct a cabinet to hide an unsightly radiator (& to increase its efficiency by redirecting heat into the room instead of up the wall! Constructed of tulip wood with English oak top using traditional joinery throughout. The cabinet had to fitted around existing pipework and could not,therefore,be free-standing, but still needed to have the facility of easy removal to expose the radiator for cleaning/servicing.

Bespoke carpentry in Devon. Plates in a Crate! This piece was designed as a worktop with two slatted shelves, to accommodate vegetable storage in the upper shelf and two large Labrador dogs (plus baskets) in the lower! The base has been constructed of tulipwood, finished in vegetable wood oil (to enhance the unusual colour and grain). The top being reclaimed cedar. Bespoke carpentry in Devon. Plates in a Crate! Plates in a Crate! Having recently sourced some lovely character Cornish sycamore and chestnut, I took this opportunity to turn up, what I term as “everyday plates”. Sycamore has been used over the millennia for platters and “Treen ware” (spoons/plates/kitchenware), some examples being highly collectible. One of the attributes of sycamore is that it does not taint food. I am now producing sets of plates in a packing crate, hence: Plates in a Crate!
