A Sophisticated Guide to the Fashion Glossies. Friday, March 21, 2008. I can't get over the texture of this Armani bag. Made of perch skin, it walks a fine line between deliciously decadent and vaguely creepy. Personally, I like the taxidermy-esque look of it, but then, I'm also thrilled by the recent flourishing of natural history references in design in general. Discovering the beautiful in the strange can be so uplifting. Monday, March 17, 2008. I'm also really feeling closed-toe pumps right now. ...

Smart: Flippy Skirts

http://theovereducatedvalet.blogspot.com/2007/12/flippy-skirts.html

A Sophisticated Guide to the Fashion Glossies. Friday, December 14, 2007. I like the two pictured skirts because despite their girlish shape, they still have a touch of elegance. The very large scale lace is fresh (and a nice change from the more common smaller scale patterns) and the wool blend has the look of raw silk, which is lavish and wonderfully tactile. The wool blend skirt looks like it might be a candidate for a well-anchored fit, but the lace one sadly appears to be a low-rider.

Smart: September 2007

http://theovereducatedvalet.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

A Sophisticated Guide to the Fashion Glossies. Sunday, September 30, 2007. A Styling Trick to Remember. Most of the minaudieres out there just don't do it for me. They're too fussy, too flashy. This one's a stunner with a timeless quality and a traditional luxury that it would take a long time to tire of. Despite the fact that minaudieres are impractically tiny and rigid, sometimes their formal precision really is called for in place of a softer evening clutch. Image from Vogue, October '07. A Sophisticated Guide to the Fashion Glossies. Friday, March 7, 2008. I'll Take the Knock-Off. I'm writing about this because it never happens: I much prefer the cheap knock-off to the designer original. Here's the copy:. And here's the Gucci version:. See what I mean? The Overeducated Housewife

Just another boring blog about a boring housewife. Friday, August 14, 2015. Repost of my review of Carol Lynn Pearson's Goodbye, I Love You. Here's another repost for the exMo lit lovers. Carol Lynn Pearson is a well known LDS poet who married a gay man. Pearson's late ex-husband, Gerald, was a lovely man and Carol Lynn adored him. But he could not love her as she loved him. Gerald contracted AIDS and eventually died of the disease. Goodbye, I Love You. Is her moving tribute to him. A special kind of love.
