The Owl and the Lion

The Owl and the Lion. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. I wanted to see what all the elements would look like pulled together, since I had a pretty good idea already of how the backgrounds would look. Simple, bold, textured. Monday, September 22, 2008. Some work on the lion. I'm not as happy with his design as I am with that of the owl's, so there will be more designs posted soon. Wednesday, September 17, 2008. To go with the developmental stages of my film, I thought it would be a good idea to keep a blog...

The Owl and the Lion: owl concepts

http://www.theowlandthelion.blogspot.com/2008/09/owl-concepts.html

The Owl and the Lion. Wednesday, September 17, 2008. Here's the first piece of concept work I've started on. My main aim was to come up with a simple, cute design. The character will most likely change a little yet, but I'm very happy with this for a first pass, and feel like I'm heading in the right direction. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Simple, bold, textured. Aww, I finally got to see the one of the lion with the owl on his head. He's very cute. :). I also like the backgrounds. September 30, 2008 at 11:15 AM. The Owl and the Lion: introduction

http://www.theowlandthelion.blogspot.com/2008/09/introduction.html

The Owl and the Lion. Wednesday, September 17, 2008. My name's Kat and I currently attend Sheridan college. I'm in my fourth and final year of a BA in animation, and this year is the big one. Every student has to be the proud owner of their own short film by April. Well, proud is the aim, at least. The story itself focuses on two characters, the owl and the lion. It will be narrated, and I hope to keep it to about two minutes. First, the lion went to ask the help of the squirrel, but they, too, had lost ...

The Dryad's Forest.: February 2009

http://dryad-forest.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 13, 2009. These are from two days ago. Caught a cold, and I feel awful. The howling winds and rain yesterday wouldn't've helped. I stayed home and slept. Unfortuately, still not better. On to layouts today! Meanwhile, here are two drawings from sc. fifteen, I think. n n It's all marked at school. I drew him with dot eyes, and I thought it was really cute. He's just going to have them and look all confused, then blink and he'll have his normal eyes again. Oh dear, someone needs a comb!

http://dryad-forest.blogspot.com/2010/03/mug-shots.html

Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Some drawing and painting practise, using some rather fantastic mug shots. I like how the older guy in the bottom right turned out, the most. The Dryad's Forest.: August 2009

http://dryad-forest.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 30, 2009. The guy playing the PSP was so epic, both my friends who I went subway sketching with drew him as well. Saturday, August 8, 2009. Looking through some old knitting patterns, the 'batwing sleeve' was brought to my attention again. I thought about it, and realised that only one kind of person could wear this sleeve and not look like an idiot:. Just playing around with the concept of a bat guy, with vestigial wings. Or they just want to give off that impression, perhaps?

The Dryad's Forest.: April 2009

http://dryad-forest.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 30, 2009. I realised as I was eating it just what it was I was celebrating, and marking an end to. It's the end of that idyllic time of school, when you only need to worry about completing the assignments. Now I'm out in the real world. I can't depend on government money to help me through the year, now I have to pay that back. It's time to get a real job. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Thursday, March 11, 2010. Subway and Park sketching. The Dryad's Forest.: September 2008

http://dryad-forest.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 29, 2008. Oh man, more drawings. Poor Lindley needed some more time, so that's what I did tonight. Watched an entire disc of the first season of Ben 10, and listened to Doctor Horrible. The welding goggles were what prompted that music choice though, not the other way around! Doodles of Keb and Lindley interacting. I rather enjoy that she didn't paint him fishing at all, but rather waving. Isn't that what we're supposed to do with life drawing? I might be exagerating, a little.). Lindle...

http://dryad-forest.blogspot.com/2010/03/crafty-projects.html

Friday, March 26, 2010. Since I come from a long line of crafty people, I thought I'd show off a couple. These are some Christmas presents I made last year:. I have also made two functional pop up books, based on the television show Doctor Who, as gifts. A blog post over on Livejournal about the creation of this book. This post was actually considered one of the 100 best of Livejournals past 10 years and included in their retrospective! Some photos of costumes I've made, thanks to consplayers.com.

The Dryad's Forest.: May 2009

http://dryad-forest.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 3, 2009. Saw the Wolverine movie. And here are some reactions. I couldn't take it seriously. I HATE when people laugh at movies, because it takes me out of the show. But I couldn't resist! There were so many places that were ridiculous. A child 'roaring', pretty much all the yelling, the cool poses that Wolverine kept taking that must've looked awesome in storyboarding form but pretty silly when someone takes them, the slow motion walk away from an explosion. That means I'm running! There was...

The Owl and the Mermaid | Magic is coming…

The Owl and the Mermaid Magic is coming…. A bird may love a fish, signore…but where would they live? Then I shall have to make you wings. Inspired by that one line, I had visions of an owl holding a mermaid by the waist, soaring just over the tops of the waves. After a few sketches, the final 17″ x 8″ illustration was born including the addition of my daughter (aka #myscoleoptera) as a ladybug. The story came much later. A Living Fairy Tale. Thursday, 6 May 2010. So what have I been up to? Well, there's been highs and lows in the world of the owl.
