Yesterday, after arriving home from a trip for work, I went down and looked at the hives. The bees were very active, especially hive #2. I put my head next to the honey supers on each hive and could hear bees working on both hives #2 and #3. And, as expected, hive #2 sounded the busiest. From the Slopes of Mt. Tamalpais. Monthly Archives: September 2014. September 2014 Update – Yes, we have more honey. I put the new swarm, which was pretty small (think Chicago softball size), in a new hive and will feed them honey to try to kick start their comb building (I didn’t have any built-out frames for them). I transferred a full honey frame from the original hive they left to give them some ready backup supplies. Ultimately it will be a matter of luck if they survive. September 18, 2014.
