Sweet Corn & Cairo: My Advent Gift
http://sweetcornandcairo.blogspot.com/2008/12/my-advent-gift.html
Sweet Corn and Cairo. Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Sweet Corn and Cairo. Hmn. I've been thinking about those two things all day (well, between counting money, and the next chapter of FLIPPED by WendelinVanDroanen, and smiles and frustrations, and a really cool photosynthesis lab). My mouth watered when thinking of the long wait till the first appearance of those new ears of deliciousness wrapped in silky threads, waiting (it seems just) for me to devour. Waiting and New Life. And still we wait. December...

Sweet Corn & Cairo: January 2009
http://sweetcornandcairo.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Sweet Corn and Cairo. Thursday, January 29, 2009. If Memories Were Sparrows. They'd chirp an angry siren. From bramble round the chain. Link fence that flanks. The tiny country cemetery. As I lumber toward my. Shushing as I go. They'd anchor my grandmother's. Beautiful fushia and soft pink peony bushes. Standing guard between the steep hill. And wild flower garden 'neath. Her big picture window with their own special perch. Where they'd alight, along with the others. Abiding in flowering forsythia. On th...

Hilemans at Home: February 2014
http://hilemans.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
And on the road. Friday, February 14, 2014. Must be time to blog again). I realize that I have a pattern of blogging during February snow days. It's one of the few times when I feel I have enough unscheduled time to indulge. In writing about things. Okay, maybe that's an overstatement, but I clearly have a pattern of doing this. In fact, many of the posts over the past few years are weather related. Link to the Facebook page. Link to the tracking tool. Link to the Colorado Outward Bound Facebook page.

Hilemans at Home: Summer 2015
http://hilemans.blogspot.com/2015/08/summer-2015.html
And on the road. Saturday, August 22, 2015. It has felt like a longer summer than most. That's actually a good thing. In late-June, we hosted everyone in the family to celebrate Abbie's graduation. It was great to have the clan here. I report for work on September 1, the day after we get back from Michigan. The new normal? Time will tell, but I'm honestly eager to find out. Maybe this is why the summer has felt long; it's been months of preparing - practically and emotionally - for the next phase. Deb, M...

Hilemans at Home
http://hilemans.blogspot.com/2013/07/and-now-for-something-completely.html
And on the road. Tuesday, July 16, 2013. And now for something completely different. Abbie had her wisdom teeth removed yesterday. It was hard not to think about Nate. I remember that he was so giddy in recovery that nurse started giggling too. I had to tell him to stop trying to talk with gauze in his mouth, so he tried to write his questions and comments on post it notes. I'm glad to have this in the rear view mirror.
