The mentoring project was a great foot in the door to social work for me'. Our mentoring project runs continuously, with mentors recruited to provide regular, one-to-one support sessions for mentees. Following a 10 week period of accredited training, mentors are supervised as they support another parent over six months. The aim of the project is to connect parents who have successfully opened up new opportunities in their lives, with those who are just starting out on a simiar journey.

Our free courses and projects are designed to be as practical as possible for parents. That means combining carefully crafted syllabuses with a teaching approach that prepares parents to put their new skills into action. Our crèche is available to all learners, and classes are small enough for every parent to be treated as an individual. Our services are designed to support our local community. Please do get in touch if you can’t see what you’re looking for. 9:00 am to 10:00 am. ESOL Entry Level 1 and 2.

The house that parents built'. Our on-site crèche is just downstairs from the classroom and flows into a safe, enclosed garden space. It is open to a maximum of 6 children between 6 months and 4 years of age, and particularly serves the childcare needs of the course attendees as they learn. They do so much more than they think they do. All the small things, the chats, the advice, the encouragement and the way they treat everyone differently makes them so special’. At The Parent House, parents develop personal skills and professional competences that are relevant to many jobs, and Semhar has drawn on them to secure the one she wanted. She now works for the council as a bus driver for people with learning difficulties, during school hours, so she still has time to look after her children.
