https://thepatchworkpietist.wordpress.com/2014/12/12/church-and-state-beyond-the-constantinian-assumption-ala-j-h-yoder
Musings on faith, creativity, and life. Church and State: Beyond the Constantinian Assumption (ala J.H. Yoder). Date: December 12, 2014. This is a much longer post than I usually do — a paper written last semester. I post it today in response to some thoughts and conversations about the political protests happening around the country. The question it seeks to address, via exploring and explaining Yoder’s theology, is this: what is the relationship between the church and the state? Politics of the Cross.

Apo-what-ic? – the patchwork pietist
https://thepatchworkpietist.wordpress.com/2013/02/09/apo-what-ic
Musings on faith, creativity, and life. Date: February 9, 2013. I’ve been thinking a lot about our conversation about the Spirit. In it, we talk a little about the difficulty of creating an “ology” around the Spirit and the uncatchable nature of this wind, the untamable nature of the fire that is the Spirit. Because of this, I have been thinking about the ways in which we try to know about the Sacred. So for now…. Until the devotion of study calls me toward the unknowable God again…. Authenticity: an out-loud season
http://well-yah.blogspot.com/2015/02/an-out-loud-season.html
Friday, February 20, 2015. The Filet O’ Fish really is the height of Constantinian Christianity, is it not? So, you know, Lent is just FUN. It’s a barrel of monkeys over here, contemplating the cold-blooded slaughter of the Creator. How could you NOT love a season like that? 8220;Oh, you like Lent? Yeah, I’ve loved those guys since seminary. Like a decade ago. Their new stuff is okay, but do you know any of the older stuff? This is my job, it’s part of my vocation, and it is a huge part of what fil...

Authenticity: in the wilderness

Monday, December 08, 2014. Manassas Church of the Brethren. Isaiah 40:1-11, Mark 1:1-8. A couple of years ago, I decided to stay away from social media during Advent. Advent isn’t traditionally a season of LESS, but I was feeling pretty overwhelmed with all that the winter months required, and wanted to focus more on Jesus, less on status updates. And I remembered that it was fasting time. So I quit eating meat.”. 8221; Jeremy asked. “Because it’s ADVENT, Jeremy! 8220;MEG,” he yelled, mad about the...
