Popping up at #CNL14! — The Patchwork Quill
http://www.thepatchworkquill.com/blog/2014/09/12/popping-up-at-cnl14
Popping up at #CNL14! May 18, 2015. I am delighted to announce that this year The Patchwork Quill will be participating in Culture Night Lisburn. Culture Night is now only one week away, and on the night the PQ is hosting a pop-up, celebrating culture, crafting and creativity, in the R-Space Gallery. Between 6.30 and 8.30pm. My other half and super-talented singer-songwriter and guitarist Guitarbuckle (AKA Andy Arbuckle) will be treating us all to an eclectic mix of music on the acoustic guitar. For the ...
Unmasking Lisburn's potential... — The Patchwork Quill
http://www.thepatchworkquill.com/blog/2015/03/18/unmasking-lisburns-potential
March 18, 2015. Last weekend, Sat 7 March, I had the pleasure of seeing my home city of Lisburn come to life with colour and creativity. A one-off event - the Music Masquerade - brought street theatre, arts workshops, superheroes, princesses and live music to every corner of the city. There was a samba workshop, pop art classes and a live graffiti art masterpiece happening at R-Space. Fire dancing on Bow Street; mask-making in Lisburn Square; animation sessions with Left Hand Cinema. The seemingly endles...

Introducing Sunday #sewingscope — The Patchwork Quill
http://www.thepatchworkquill.com/blog/2017/2/27/introducing-sunday-sewingscope
February 27, 2017. Yes, after a ridiculously long hiatus, I have picked up my beloved Patchwork Quill again. So where have I been, you ask? Well, I plunged headfirst back into the world of self employment mid-2015 with the launch of my content writing business, and early 2016 is when things really started to get busy. I had taken on a massive, risky project that ultimately wasn't successful (as is often the way with massive, risky projects). I finally finished the circle skirt! It has spent months langui...

The other side of life | Medical Library Matters
https://carricklass.wordpress.com/2015/03/11/the-other-side-of-life
The other side of life. In September 2014, bravely or foolishly I enrolled for the Library Management Course, a course I should have undertaken years ago…but life happens… and here I am, a student again! Constantly time managing, or juggling with time: evaluating what I need to do versus what I’d like to do; weighing up what’s important to me and what I can ‘put on the long finger’, ‘rud a chur ar an mhéar fhada’… an Irish expression equivalent to prevarication. Thomas’ definition is:. Mar 22, 2015.

Samuel Beckett’s description of his ailing mother is poignant, beautiful and original. Death and love are the twin towers of all literature, so when someone comes up with an original way of describing one or the other, you have to sit up and take note. Included in the lot is a postcard written while his mother was dying in 1950:. I think she will die in hospital in a week or so. Read the full story at The. The Art of Midwifery Improv’d. The Long Room, Trinity College Library Dublin – New Exhibition Launched 23rd October 2014. This looks like an amazing exhibition – primarily for adults. What an opportunity to wander through the books you’ve read, the ones perhaps you should have read, and the ones you might still read. The great thing is that you can actually explore this online too. The Library of Trinity College Dublin. From Walter Crane’s superb images of Greek heroes battling monsters in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s. You Have Made Me A Liar (An Alzheimer’s Awareness Post). Amy includes some useful links to Alzheimer/dementia resources. It is so true, unfortunately, that few of us aren’t touched by someone with some form of dementia. Each of us has a story, some sad, some funny, but all inevitably tragic as the person we care for disappears. Thank you, Amy. Amy's Scrap Bag: A Blog About Libraries, Archives, and History. The Talented Dr. Knox. A lazy way, perhaps of letting you know that “Medical Library Matters” has not gone away! Samuel Beckett is perhaps, not quite Medical, but is such an exciting purchase by Trinity College Dublin. This article on the anatomist who employed Burke and Hare, is closer to home and definitely of interest. Books, Health and History. Engraving of Dr. Robert Knox. The Patchwork Robin
Monday, 10 August 2015. It's a little late, but I've been at Harry Potter World with Lily and Rowan, so I haven't had chance to post. I mentioned in my last post I've been busy working on my Husiff. I got quite a bit done and I'm really pleased with how it's coming along. I've still got a fair bit left to do but I'm hoping to have it finished by the weekend. I just need to bind it and get some silk ribbon. Everyone one who joined in was so productive. Thanks to Cheryll for hosting a great craft night.
