YVES YUMOL SKETCH BLOG: March 2010
http://creativecheckpoint.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 31, 2010. After trying to look more into the art fields, I decided take a path on being an Illustrator after taking my basic drawing class. what a jump! So what the heck? Why not take an Illustration class? This class was also taught by my former basic drawing teacher, which was also my figure drawing teacher the same semester. The class was composed mostly of critiques and a lot of homework doing thumbnails, refining, more refining, critiques, and more refining. Constructive criticism i...

YVES YUMOL SKETCH BLOG: Digital Painting Practice
http://creativecheckpoint.blogspot.com/2013/08/digital-painting-practice.html
Saturday, August 31, 2013. I've been really needing to get up to speed on digital painting again. Some studies I did this past week: two from reference photos, a Sargent master copy, and a still life. More pots! I've been using as much as I can from what I've learned from traditional oil painting, but I'm also trying to learn how to make my own brushes. Also still using RGB sliders to get my colors because it's a lot closer to "mixing" colors the traditional way than using HSB sliders.

YVES YUMOL SKETCH BLOG: May 2010

Monday, May 31, 2010. Painting 2 (Spring 10). After seeing all these paintings together, I realized that all my paintings from the first semester were all vertical, while my paintings from the previous were all horizontal.interesting. The first project was to work from the same still life as painting 1 students, but instead of just black and white, we had to add some color to it and still see them as black, white, and grey objects. What a difference a year made. Now I like it haha. Painting 1 (Spring 09).

Work from Marshall's Animal Drawing class at FJC. First one was a practice where we drew from a picture for about 30 minutes. The second was the skeleton I chose at the La Brea Tar Pits Page Museum. We had a pretty good time and the tour by Robert was cool. I learned. Self Portrait and Sketch #4.

YVES YUMOL SKETCH BLOG: February 2010
http://creativecheckpoint.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 28, 2010. High School Art Class (senior 05-06). Since art was so fun I took another class ;p. The first semester was supposed to be focused on commercial art and the second was a sort of studio lab where we get to do whatever we want. Having too much freedom was a little too much and didn't make me want to really do anything so I wasn't as productive as I could have been. Especially with all the things going on senior year:. Tennis, clubs (including art),. Ahand a Warcraft piece! Around ...

YVES YUMOL SKETCH BLOG: January 2011
http://creativecheckpoint.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 31, 2011. Got a new and sexy looking sketchbook today along with a bunch of supplies for CDA. Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway" is a title of a book by Susan Jeffers. So I felt like writing something on the first pages I drew on in my new sketchbook, and I thought this was totally appropriate. I mean isn't it a bit scary starting a new, clean, and innocent sketchbook? Maybe that's what the image was all about ;p. And when I was all done, it kind of reminds me of a Dr. Seuss book cover.
